I expected this argument to come from benny the cunt. Yeh people should definitely be given the option to go to a shuffling or non-shuffling table. Why do you think 2 hours is too short? Too little time to develop and exploit reads?

888PL 24h Cash Game

Yeah maybe make it 4 hours or somehing. 6 is kinda redundant because swapping was occuring on that sort of timeframe anyway

Yeah 2 hours is silly I think.

Add to that, people were coming and going anyway... so that did change the dynamics slightly.

I wanted a "celebrity table" where I could sit with whoever I wanted ;)

Fwiw I may be taking a break from poker, but I'm all for holding another game at mine in the summer, I'll either play or just run it.

benny the cunt, we played some hands together - remember the TT vs AQ on TJ8r?

i also think summer would be bad, being in a tin shed when its like 40+ outside and like 50 inside would be way worse than the cold, September/October would be the best for it i reckon

Trishan; two hours is too short.. you really do build up a report and a history with a particular table. Just as people were saying "I want to change" there were others saying "I like this table!"

There are mini-battles on the tables which go on over the course of 4 or 5 hours. Seeing your money in front of someone for that long is also motivation to get it back ;)

Also, the smell of coffee brewing is awesome in a 24 hour cash game ;)

David wrote:People also need to know how a 24 hour game is different.

Usually you wouldn't drop $200 - $300 at a cash game (at home) playing these stakes as time doesn't really permit. but in 90 minutes I was down $200 and over the night, Aaron was down almost $300

People need to understand this and realise their time will be limited if they bring a small amount. Not that there's anything wrong with bringing a small amount though.

With the amount of money being pushed around, it was SO important to know what everyone had behind them, as well as yourself. I must say, it's been some of the more pure poker I've had the chance of being involved in, at a home game. The bluffs were calculated, the raises were excellent and the thinking involved in some hands was exquisite. It was great seeing people rise up from one table to see a $200+ pot go down on another (or even a $100 pot early).

This is probably due to the mix of people there as well.

interesting comments David..
I came to the event with a Plan not having previous opportunities to play cashies out here in the sticks and not a keen Casino player...
my plan was to last the 24hrs and had a roll of $100 extras if needed so cautiosous play was the order of the night... .
I noted your demise and pheonix recover as feature of the night our Host's spendings and the Macas having a profitable Venture.
The mix of playes both in skill and those known and unknown to me made for a interesting night. The opportunity to play other tables was something that was handled well I thought , when I arrived two tables of 8 were running and i was offer a choice of red card/black card table choice . and sat at a seat of space.

the Pizza // half time break offered a redraw of table seating as others had arrived 3x 7 I think maxed out the seatings and the midnight /dawn shift commenced.

yes it became cold early morning but Shaun's specifically purchased heater proved popular.
My event/plan was acheived at the 12hrsplaytime [ after my 8-00pm arrival]
I had a +$5 gain [ having 3 x $ 20 buyins backing] I know not highroller stuff.

however the opportunity to play Sinister, Russell Macca, [[Shaun and Steve Bee these twowereto acheive 24hr playing status ,Russell?? }} for the last 4hrs also proved informative..Sinisters mate failed the awakeness test at about 10-30 after pumping the Pot x $150 late....

Summary minus $12 in 16hrs play learnt alot about my game/Table image and Other's play Clahab included... I'm looking forward to another event soon and the opportunity to take down the high rollng Murrins and Co. ;)

thanks for AK hosting All

till nextime
'more folding' :P

nice post bruce

i kind of agree with the above posts.

there really is no need to shuffle tables more than what was already done really.

What I also liked about the 24 hour format was that you didn't feel that you were against the clock ever. Not so much in a hand, but willingness to fold to a read because you know there's hours and hours left of play.

I found myself thinking through hands a lot more and getting better results. There were times that I made the wrong call or fold (usually fold) especially against Aaron (very nice bluff).

I also found myself thinking about my own moves and trying not to play lazy poker - deciding bet sizes, and when to flat or raise was important and I did that well for the most part. Sometimes I would let meyself down by check-raising when I could just flat knowing I was way ahead (Yes, Russ, set of kings against your ace!).

I didn't get a chance to play with some people at all, and others only a little. I would have liked to play against Matt more, and benny the cunt as well - I lost most of my $200 when I was on their table so it wasn't really valuable time for me. At one point I was playing on a table with Caleb, Shaun, Garth, Aaron and Russ. I think? I don't know exactly. I haven't played against Shaun for AGES (ie, maybe Kingy years ago) and I really enjoyed that. I always love playing against Caleb - not just for the poker but the conversation both about the hand and around it.

Man I avoided some outs with Garth in one hand. I think I raised to $3 preflop. Garth reraised to $9. I reraised to $25 (he had around $40 behind him) and he then shoved for the rest. I called.

I think it was something like :

David [as] [kd]
Garth [7h] [8h]

Flop [9h] [10h] [ac]

The turn and river bricked out - probably an $80 hand for me.
