Usually you wouldn't drop $200 - $300 at a cash game (at home) playing these stakes as time doesn't really permit. but in 90 minutes I was down $200 and over the night, Aaron was down almost $300
People need to understand this and realise their time will be limited if they bring a small amount. Not that there's anything wrong with bringing a small amount though.
With the amount of money being pushed around, it was SO important to know what everyone had behind them, as well as yourself. I must say, it's been some of the more pure poker I've had the chance of being involved in, at a home game. The bluffs were calculated, the raises were excellent and the thinking involved in some hands was exquisite. It was great seeing people rise up from one table to see a $200+ pot go down on another (or even a $100 pot early).
This is probably due to the mix of people there as well.
interesting comments David..
I came to the event with a Plan not having previous opportunities to play cashies out here in the sticks and not a keen Casino player...
my plan was to last the 24hrs and had a roll of $100 extras if needed so cautiosous play was the order of the night... .
I noted your demise and pheonix recover as feature of the night our Host's spendings and the Macas having a profitable Venture.
The mix of playes both in skill and those known and unknown to me made for a interesting night. The opportunity to play other tables was something that was handled well I thought , when I arrived two tables of 8 were running and i was offer a choice of red card/black card table choice . and sat at a seat of space.
the Pizza // half time break offered a redraw of table seating as others had arrived 3x 7 I think maxed out the seatings and the midnight /dawn shift commenced.
yes it became cold early morning but Shaun's specifically purchased heater proved popular.
My event/plan was acheived at the 12hrsplaytime [ after my 8-00pm arrival]
I had a +$5 gain [ having 3 x $ 20 buyins backing] I know not highroller stuff.
however the opportunity to play Sinister, Russell Macca, [[Shaun and Steve Bee these twowereto acheive 24hr playing status ,Russell?? }} for the last 4hrs also proved informative..Sinisters mate failed the awakeness test at about 10-30 after pumping the Pot x $150 late....
Summary minus $12 in 16hrs play learnt alot about my game/Table image and Other's play Clahab included... I'm looking forward to another event soon and the opportunity to take down the high rollng Murrins and Co.
thanks for AK hosting All
till nextime
'more folding'
