I honestly have no idea why verbal folds aren't mentioned in the rules. It may be the reason you mentioned, or it may be something else.

OMG are we not reading what happened? Hand was mucked FACE DOWN.....was only when player realised his mistake that he pulled them back from the middle of the table and turned them over that they were exposed..no live hand was killed...the hand was definitely mucked and that was the decision made. As for the state champs seats being transferred....it was only between the final five who agreed to chop the $1000 prize pool....it was players on the rail who thought it was anyone that played that game....and your last question Aun....no verbal fold is not binding. This is the last post I will be making on this topic.....HAND WAS MUCKED FACE DOWN and everyone present (about 12-15 people including the 3 players) except Aun was happy with the decision......dont you think the guy who mucked accidentally would have been the one up in arms? he came to me on the sunday at the finals and apologised for nearly decking Aun for the way he carried on.....I wouldnt have blamed him if he had but thats another story. Dont you think the guy who would have missed the seat would have been carrying on? the one and only person who is, is a player from the rail who thinks he knows OUR RULES better than me is the one carrying on. Aun up until you accused me of being a cheat we were cool, we joked around as you say, but from that moment on you now have the respect from me that you have earned, NONE. I did PM you to call me and i also messaged your friend to tell you to call me...you chose not to...so thats it. THE HAND WAS MUCKED FACE DOWN and everyone who was there except you agree....that says it all, Thank you for those who supported my decision, for those who questioned it, I think it is CLEAR the correct decision was made. That is all. Goodnight.

I thought about what should have been done if I was the dealer.
Tell me if you agree.
When SB pushes his cards forward face down, as dealer, I would ask him "this player is all-in, are you sure you are folding?"
If he says "no", I flick his hand over, table it and the shortstack's hand and we go to showdown.
If he says "yes", I muck his hand. Disqualify him as per penalty for collusion in the rules. Split his $200 between the last 2 players and kick his arse out the door and ring Garth to cancel the entry he has already got into the Semi!
The remaining 2 players gets the seat.
FAIR?

WOW. Ernie, sorry mate, but your interpretation or understanding of the rules is incorrect.

All-in confrontations - When two players are all in and the action is completed, both hands must be exposed face up before the rest of the board is run.

The rule exists to prevent collusion. Whether you or anyone else wants to admit it or not, your ruling was clearly made in error.

Why is it so hard to just put your hand up and say, "ok, made a mistake, sorry"?? You would earn a lot more respect for doing so.

Ernie, I'm sorry but I'm not going to call you on the phone because I know it will end up in a rather polarised conversation. It will do no good.
I see that you are maintaining your stance with the muck so the phone call would just be nuts.
I'm not afraid to speak to you Ernie. After all I spoke my mind live in front of you.
I don't want you to break your phone after talking to me!

So your way to avoid a possible collusion situation as dealer is to influence the play yourself? Really?

As dealer, if a player makes a decision, you cannot offer them more information and give them a chance to reconsider the decision.

THAT is considered collusion.

I take it you're not a trained Tournament Director?

Yeah, 100% agree here Caleb, that is just silly.

So as dealer, you just ask "is that a fold?" and no info on the all-in?

You don't do anything except enforce the rules. If the allin is less than the amount of chips the SB already has on the table, the rule clearly states that both hands must be exposed face up and the board run out.

So don't even attempt to detect any efforts to collude
simply "sorry mate, can't fold, flip it over!"
