So we're too scared to move all in here against players who will call down light? Wooo If I was positive the range was very wide of villain I am salivating at the idea of getting it in here. There really is no better pre flop spot to get our chips in, against an ATC range you have 82% equity in the hand.

But because there was a five bet jam you can effectively say there is one of three hands he is holding this early on, hence the difference.

Whether it's early or late really makes no difference to me whether I get the chips in; as long as I do so in good spots. When I am playing seriously and grinding volume I am quite often playing up to 10 tournaments seriously, so I will generally OVERPLAY QQ+ on micro tourneys early on as most people will stack off in these situations and it means an early double up.

I hate checking any flop where I am the preflop aggressor, it really limits my chances to win the hand and puts you in some very difficult positions. I will only rarely check when I am ready to give up on the hand on the flop (NOTE: as the pf aggressor), or get to the turn as cheaply as possible.

In most cases though, and it fields like 888PL, a cbet will generally allow you to win the pot (when you have missed the board, or your hand becomes marginal) then and there almost 75% of the time.

Perhaps then if you are happy to get it in then an open shove with KK might be the way to go.

Yep dead serious. A lot of people will call off with pockets 10 or better or AK, AQ, AJ. It looks weak and a donk play and it can pay off.

Hmmmmmmmm whilst it is a logical response, of sort, there is some fundamental flaw in the strategy.

TBH Matt, it might occur in 888PL and micro stake MTT's (liberally) but I doubt you will get anyone calling an open shove for 100BBs+ that often in any other type of tournaments unless they are holding KK.

The idea with KK and AA is you want the guy with J9suited calling and the guy in the BB with KT off coming along for the ride, much better chance to acquire more chips and max value by playing pretty standard pre flop when you are OOP and the opener.

I agree with you Garth... But we are talking about 888PL and an low / medium stake game. So I think the move woulda have worked in this situation. That's why originally I said I'd fold with the situation as it was explained.

Fold to the three bet or five bet jam?

I think you mean the five bet shove!

But by then I have invested 2.3K and am looking at 7.7K to call off into a 22K pot.
Borderline.

But I'm glad someone can find a fold. I don't think I fold in this spot in 888PL tournaments too often.

I fold to the latter.
