1k Guarantee, early stages

Postby muzzington » Wed Jul 07, 2010 9:00 pm

Don't use a hud, but villiain is solid and hadn't gotten out of line. I realised after how bad my bet sizing looks, but I felt comfortable I had the best hand until the river which threw me since something like 6 8, Q8 or another combo was possible. Villain also tanked raise the river.

really tough spot muzz.

because of your river bet sizing, a bluff raise is possible. your bet screams of a hand that just wants to get to showdown.

the board is very dry. no draws got there, and the 8 on the turn and river is pretty much irrelevant, except for 78. Q8 is possible but i dont think its there that often. of course he could have quads but thats obviously unlikely.

do you think he could be turning something like 99-JJ or KQ into a bluff?

i dont really see what has us beat, the turn and river change very little. if he had a set on the flop, its a weird line as well.

i think i am calling here most of the time. his line doesn't really make sense except for a marginal hand that villain is turning into a bluff.

im prolly way off the mark here, but thats the way i see it.

I didn't think it made much sense either, but that would also make it a decent bluffing spot if he thought I was capable of a laydown of a Q or something like that. We were also the two chip leaders at the time, so it was a big hand for that stage.

Double fist pump snap call.

Then double fist pump punch a hole in the wall when he rolls 84o.

I think we only really fear flopped sets.

A8, Q8, 78 possible but not likely holdings for calling raises OOP for a solid player.

Could be KK, AQ, KQ.

I call here 100% of the time.

I ended up calling and he showed [5s] [6s] of spades so missed a lot of draws on the turn but made the river call a little tougher.

I'm not sure if raising the amount he did or shoving is more effective in trying to get a fold.

What a 'tard.

I hope you made a note on him -

check/calls his monster draws - bluffs off heaps when he misses.

I actually like his line, although the board texture doesn't really make a lot of sense for it (his line).

If I were in his shoes, I'd definitely call the flop with all the backdoor possibilities.

I think the fact it wasn't a very bluffable board had me slightly confused, thinking he might have backed into trips. I think benny the cunt's right in that my small river bet leaves him room to try something.

I don't think he's on a very high level though so he might have just been stubborn and decided to try something because he missed (which he basically admitted).

i think a half to 2/3 pot bet on the river is better.

or if you are worried about getting raised a lot, then check call is probably ok as well, although a bit passive
