There are three streets, should just let him hang himself in a hand like this. if he improves and makes a set (which you will have a book) or 2 pr he's getting it in anyways. this will work especially well with a player who only thinking at a level 1 or 2. as they are not considering you have a set.

its actually a quite funny, you are more likely to get a fold with a min raise from a lvl 1 or 2 player here then a 3 or 4 here because your represention of strengh could bring up a bluff flag for a thinking player. if you got min re-reraised i would be flatting 100% of the tiem so they can continue there line. your aim is to get as many chips in BY THE RIVER on a board texture like this. the more streets the villian is exposed to the more of a chance he will do something stupid, which is when you will get paid off

Not afraid of anything, I suppose the only thing i was 'afraid' of was him checking behind my river check to only 'win the minimum'. I was happy with the result, just thought I would poll my peers to get their thoughts & reasoning.

The min raise is a funny thing - so often it seems more scary then shoves.

Yeah, go on.

preflop is a huge leak in your game. you are really lighting money on fire by raising here. just lucky that you hit a set.

by raising here, it means you will have to play multiway, out of position in a bloated pot, with an underpair 7/8 times.

I don't do this all the time, just early on to try and become a bit of a table bully & have found it works.
I wouldn't say it is a HUGE leak - I think it has its pro's (we do hit sometimes, c-bets often take it down against limper that completes begrudgingly, it was a limped flop (no aggression), i am prepared to give the hand away (i don't barrell off my whole stack), I use the same play with AA.

I understand the HUGE importance of position - but don't you think that there is a flip side to this that makes raising BIG from a blind with marginal holdings & then c-betting a VERY strong play (when used correctly ie early, in a limped pot)? I fear this play as it is often a sure sign of a monster.

Food for thought.

I actually think I worked out my biggest leak last night..... but that is for another thread ;p

this is the issue - because you are multiway, it is very hard to get through 2+ players when you cbet.

you are right, it is very strong to cbet into multiple people, but it is also very risky, and puts you in an awful spot on the turn if one or more of them calls.

if there is a single limper, then i think it is ok to raise here. but with so many limpers, you are very rarely going to fold out more than one of them, and then you have to play out of position with no idea of their ranges.

I figured this would be your answer, I like doing it too. :P In these low buy in tournies though I find you can get in far stickier situations. When it works out like this though it helps.
