smittdoggy wrote:just wondering did anyone else see that having the tables down stairs in the morning was very cramped and is something that could be looked at by the venue and maybe some better communication with WAFC on when the break is due to everyone waiting ages for food 40 min for some wedges is a bit far fetched . at the grand final they did it very well and had stuff in trays ready to go like you was at the footy. they just seemed a bit caught out this time round

good post. at the grand final, it was all awesome - trays of hot dogs, salad rolls, pies and pasties etc etc. it was great

this time around, it was almost as if they didnt do anything extra from their usual. they ran out of a lot of things.

i like the WAFC much better than any other finals venue, but i think this time was a little bit of a let down given the excellent standard they set for last time.

Too long IMO.

No pleasing you clowns!

FWIW - we like the 60 minute break; a double colour out needs to be performed and at some stage we would like to have the opportunity to put our feet up and relax a bit.

Now on to the venue:

1.) Bingo was in the other function room; if we had access to that other room we would have been using it!

2.) The venue under catered for all of our players and have since discussed this with us. There was some miscommunication issues that have since been addressed.

3.) The next semi final will be held at WAFC and this time we will secure both rooms and work closely with the functions team to ensure optimum customer satisfaction.

4.) The venue staff and management are exemplary; Tim, Danni and Gina run a tight ship and I can tell you that they felt terrible for letting us and the 888PL players down and I assure you that they will make it up to all players at the next one! And deliver another fantastic event once more~

5.) And where else are you going to find awesome staff like Gina, Heidi, Sian and Ninja Zoe! Table service all day (with a smile) and very long days and still found time to have a few knock off drinks to celebrate!

Tournament structure

1.) Antes cause all sorts of headaches when designing tournament structures, but here are the rules we try to adhere to (for 888PL)
*Antes should never be of a value that exceeds three of the smallest chips in play.
*Antes should never exceed 20% of the BB and should always try and be 10% - 15% of the BB (standard).
*Antes should be introduced when required and should never affect the run sheet (i.e - if a break and colour out is scheduled for 2pm then we ensure we do not schedule 50 antes as a colour out should occur during breaks.)

2.) The structure will be modified; 14 hours is too long for operating a tournament BUT the 10K start stack and 30 minute blinds will remain but modifications will be made to blinds.

3.) Overall I think that was the best semi final structure that has been used before.

The Team

Once again I need to thank Tim and Matt for their dedication and hard work and what was a seamless event. It was also good to see the BDM (Nathan) come down to help us out and shake hands!

Special mention also to the guys who do all the hard work whilst we soak up the compliments:
Andre Tomic - the workhorse, the man behind the curtains ensuring everything is where it is supposed to be and packed up again when it is finished with.
Dakota Tran - still the best damn TD on the planet and someone who knows the ins and outs of the tournament.
Caleb, Russ and Mike - the young team of professionals who do everything we ask of them nd always do it with a smile (special props to russ for providing hours of giggles!)
Lincoln - the man who always keeps its together, always thinking two steps ahead and always providing hours of entertainment for me.
Grant Pepper - as always the guy who remains so upbeat and positive about everything! Always there to pick up the slack. Also the man who has more confidence than most (some would call it a lack of dignity) I don't! But Grant can convince anyone to give up $10 to play a SNG!

So that's my feedback and answers right now, hope you all look forward to the next one!

feed back on the SA semi's

I was actually quite annoyed with Andre towards the end of the night. I was going to email my complaint but now I feel I should air this dirty laundry in an open forum.

Towards the end if the night, Andre and Russ were loading tables on to the Budget rental truck.

I told Andre that I tried to push that truck earlier, but I couldn't "budge it".

Andre said that was the worst joke he had ever heard and he said that he had heard quite a few if my crap jokes before.

I would like to see some disciplinary action taken towards Andre and a public apology from him.

As for the rest of the team, another awesome job gang!

Swankster, I think maybe YOU owe Andre the apology, not the other way around..You should also apologise to anyone that was within ear shot of that, and Jo, you're only encouraging him, he's gonna do it again if you keep that up...
