did i miss something... did we all suddenly teleport to vegas where there are more casinos in a square mile than in our entire country??
making comparisons to the rake in vegas compared to adelaide is pointless.
I respect the poker gods, I think that's why they are nice to me!!!

Incorrect assumption.

Ring games can now be operated in Victoria, and the VCGR was adamant that they would never release a statement stating that cash games were legal (it's now on the home page of their website and released a special notice to all pubs and clubs).

I also could run a cash game format tomorrow in SA that would be entirely legal.

Point accepted, also casino dealers in US get paid peanuts and live off tips, award rate in Aus is around $18 - $26/hour (from what I remember).

But still the rake in Aussie casinos is growing quite ridiculous.

1/2 in Jupiters now - everyone antes $1 for rake before every hand. That's 0.5BB every hand before a card is dealt.

I only said Vegas because it's the only non-Australian poker room I've played in.

The rake in Adelaide is
1/2 10% @ $10- Crown 1/2 10% @ $15
2/3 10% @ $10- Crown $5 time charge plus 10% @ $6
5/5 5% @ $20-Crown $10 time charge plus 10% @ $6

Buy ins for a $1/2 are $20 - $100 $2/3 are $60 - $200
There is nowhere near $300 being taken off the table on a $1/2 or a $2/3 table.

You'll notice I said up to. Rake depends on the table and the players obviously. Still, it ranges between $100-$300 per hour. Especially on a $1/$2 table, where max buy-in is $100, this is simply ridiculous.

$200 - $300 is quite normal on a LAGgy $2/$3 table fridays and saturdays.

That is from one of their Poker Supervisers, and my own experience last month.
$200 on a laggy $2/3 is probably the max rake, no where near $300.
