Re: Change to the Official 888PL Rules
I was under the assumption that if a player's chip stack is removed from a tournament, so is record of said player playing the tournament.

tell me where it says that you stay in the tourmament if you dont play?
why dont i just phone up every pub in adelaide and register?
the actual rules on this are ambiguous, except for the bit about the TDs acting in the spirit of the game. and you registering and not playing is not in the spirit of the game, clearly
trishan wrote:Well to begin with the original TD (who for the record is an excellent TD in all respects) gave me a warning about registering and not participating and tried to impose a condition on me alone that if I was not present at the start, I would be unregistered (which is not a rule nor a condition placed on any other player)
wait, so you got a warning and then did it anyway?

If you can't qualify by the conditions set down by the league then deal with it, but don't try to bring the league and the hard working staff into disrepute. That is just plain disrespectful, and shows that you dont deserve to play anyway. Very, very disappointing from someone who should know better.
Matt I am not sure why you fail to read what I am saying and then make a comment that is uncalled for and disrespectful. I said that I have every intention of playing when I register. I am not trying to abuse the system. I am saying that regardless of a players intention there is no rule that states they should be unregistered.

Re: Change to the Official 888PL Rules
Sorry Trishan, but I am not going to go through the 888 rules & what has been posted on the forum: this is my opinion only.
Unfortunately if you are not willing to commit to playing 10 games over a 12 week season, then 888 probbly don't mind if you don't play the GF & they don't give you part of their record prize pool.
Another couple of things for you to consider:
As someone who was previously involved in a venue running poker, I would be ropable if I was paying 888 money to have you playing at my venue, only to have you walk out after 5 minutes. Obviously I would hope that you would put some money over the bar, however if you walked out and 888 still charged me for having you there, sh!t would definitely hit the fan. I don't think it would be worth it to 888 to lose a venue, just to allow you to register & then leave - especially as you do not seem to be a supporter of the leage as you haven't even played 10 games.
Also, having a dead stack on the table is a huge advantage to that particular table. The TC has to be fair to the other tables playing so I believe removing the dead stack (you) is the fair thing to do.
Trishan, I am sorry that you feel you have been hard done by, but take the emotion out of this, take a step back & look at the bigger picture. Get your 10 games & come play in a couple of weeks.
Hope to see you there
Cheers

10 games in six months isn't really hard.

Trishan, I'm not sure why you fail to understand that I read what you wrote but I also understand it may not be what you meant. You had every intention of trying to exploit the system, got caught and did it again, and are now trying to worm your way out by attacking the rules, the league, and the staff who have ruled over this situation.

The rules are clear on this point Ben, you have to present to play and you can only play one game during a certain time slot.
Section 1, part iii, Point 1
Rules wrote:1. You must be present to register for a tournament.
Section 1, part iii, Point 4
Rules wrote:4. A player may not hold a seat in more than one game.

Re: Change to the Official 888PL Rules
If you did this 10 times, to get the qualification, you can tell your story walking.
If you actually played nine times, and the tenth time you couldn't get back - well - play one more game.
If I couldn't play ten games in 6 months, I wouldn't expect to be allowed to play the Grand Final.

If you cannot engage in a serious discussion please refrain from posting. You are speculating what my intentions are when I have stated clearly what the situation is.
