I have experienced 888PL/NPL make a ruling, to suit itself, and used the "fairness" defense in instigating said rule.

Ok here is my 2c and Trishan I am in no way having a go at you.

I work until almost 8pm nightly now and this does include weekend work occasionally. My schedule can change at short notice . I have a deal with my local TD's that if I am going to be late to a game that I call before the game starts to register. If I am not there by a set time then my name is removed from the system and my chips removed from the table. If I am 2 minutes past the set time it is my bad luck. This is the same rule as for other players. Until I arrive my chips are blinded out to ensure I receive no unfair advantage (my choice I could late reg but do not think this is fair). This rule is in place not for the benefit 888pl but to be fair to other players and also to the venues.

Td's are put in the position of having to act fairly for all and I have no issue with a TD introducing rules on the night if it is deemed necessary to prevent actions which may be detrimental to the game. I choose to play 888pl due to the strong poker knowledge of the TD's, there ability to make quick decisions which keeps the game running smoothly and the way in which they try to ensure that every decision they make is in the best interested of the game. For a TD to do this they need to be given the ability to make decisions on the night which may not be in the rules . 888pl have a strong dispute resolution process to where if you feel you are being unjustly treated you send you concerns to higher level to be reviewed.

Ok so back to point.

1/I do not think it is unfair to expect everyone to play at least 10 games to qualify for special events.
2/I have not come across a ruling which has been made to benefit 888pl which has been cloaked under the fairness rule.
3/ I think this has been covered above.

Trishan I do think your original post did not state exactly what your true meaning was. I can see that you were trying to get across that what you had done on 1 occasion was not outside the rules but as you can see the TD has ruled that in fairness to all he will not allow it to occur again. I know that you will attend the 10 games if at all possible and play and that this would be your preferred option as having played with you I know that if you could you would love to play as much as possible.

Hope I made sense and Trishan again I am not attacking you in this post just stating my opinion.

So we have gone down one track, taken a left turn, avoided the Bog of Eternal Stench and hit upon this.

Anybody who wishes they could do that, shouldn't be. We've all agreed that it isn't in the spirit of what the 888PL are trying to do.

And, since you aren't wishing to do that, Trishan, I guess the debate is over :)

Yes not sure why this thread even went this long. I am so misunderstood lol

I understand where you are coming from Trishan as I really need to practice my live game and really have limited opportunities at the moment. I apologize for my long winded response before and hope to see you and everyone else at the grand final ( and if you do sit on my table go easy on me I am an old lady who is just learning how to play ;) )

Don't want to harp on benny the cunt but perhaps I could have been more clearer in my OP and avoided confusion. I did say at the end of the OP:

The 888PL should not be able to arbitrarily make up rules when someone raises an issue with them and then talk about "fairness". When I register I have every intention to return so long as time and personal circumstances dictate and if they don't and I can't make it, I don't see why we should change rules that have been in place for years and unregister me.
