Previously suspended player permitted to play in 888PL GF

The player that the comment was aimed at is a friend of mine and was DJ/MC at my wedding and I can categorically say he was laughing his a$$ off when this "abuse" took place. The humour was replaced by a little bit of remorse when he found out I had suspended Player A for a period of time.

It was a little severe, but when a player is on probation and told he has no chances/excuses/warnings THEN proceeds to swear loudly in front of a TC (for the record: yours truly) the consequences will be severe.[/quote]

It's either one or the other mate; you were there and it was abusive.

Now the TC in question has elaborated further and it wasn't exactly abuse aimed at a stranger.

Now you're throwing out unfounded allegations that the player in question conducted himself this way every night.

He has since serves his suspension, you have not attended any events with this player and yet you continue to believe he should suffer for one past indiscretion that he was severely punished for.

Now unless you want to declare Adam an outright liar I suggest you stop arguing the point about past history and whether it was abuse or not but in regards to the rulings.

You were once giving an opportunity for clemency and leniency and have turned the corner, why is it impossible for this player to do so?

Exactly why a 3 month suspension was issued and the player in question was removed from the qualifiers list for the Vic Semi Final that quarter.

A few comments have been made ITT about should this be look on more lightly because it was said in jest, my comment was based around that. 'pundies hates swearing at the poker table...!!' think I have made that one clear

I wrote a reply but the bizzaro up-and-down happenings with the post reply of this forum made it a bit hard and I accidently deleted half of it.

I do not think you are bad managers - I just think rule changes and 'bending' rules is not in keeping with my personal experience with 888pl so considering it should not be considered.

I will offer an apology for my comment - possibly not my finest work.

I always listen and take on board those I disagree with opinions/thoughts/experiences.

I have an 'agree to disagree' type of personality. My motto is "Be Liquid" You like that? I came up with it myself!

Whilst you may think your contributions are to take the thinking up a notch - your approach does not seem conducive to this.

I disagree that I push the boundaries of common decency and respect - but you are welcome to your opinion.

I respect 98% of all posters here - a couple seem to dislike me but - who cares? I still listen to what they say (even bite my tounge a bit).

I truly have seen more offensive displays then mine so I would have felt a bit singled out if the ban hammer was swung at me.

I guess it all comes down to the rules and as to how they are interpreted by individuals. Fortunately, the rule in question is very clear and precise and does include exclusion from semi and GF events.

It also appears from previous posts that the TC in question (Adam) did what was expected of him even though he was aware the verbalising was in jest. Had he failed to do so would he have been reported? Quite possibly, yes!

Unfortunately, the rule book doesn't bring into account whether or not he is now a reformed player. It doesn't consider that he was jokingly abusing his friend or that he purchased a ticket for the coming GF.

Some of the earlier posts also suggest that there is an opening which does allow 888PL staff and or management to over-ride the rule book and make a decision they feel is more appropriate.

I'm sure Garth and Co, had a serious look at the situation in question before they made their final decision. Only time will tell if it was the correct one!

On a personal note!

My missus is always on my case for using the "F BOMB" in my every day language. I'm not using it in a nasty way it's just me so I find it hard to kerb myself at the poker table and around the grand kids etc but I'm working on it!!!

Well Garth, I have no problem with you disclosing to everyone that I asked this question. I think it was a valid question and am glad you opened the discussion.

It seems to me that some few have had a say and that is great. We all have our own opinions.

But what are we to form our opinion from - the Rules?? - or not.

I personally do not have a problem with this person even though his bad language offends me. I have put up with it for many years by him at the poker table.

I believe that everyone deserves a second chance and that if you have offended and served your time and prove that you are remorseful - all well and good - and concessions could be made.

BUT I do not believe that any concessions should be made if a person reoffends. They should be dealt with strictly and the Rules be enforced so as to teach them that they cannot disrepect 888PL staff or the players. Any other decision is just asking for problems with players in the future.

Swearing or abusing players or friends is irrelevant. It is still swearing and abusing and other players should not have to put up with it. The person it is directed at may not be offended but other patrons most likely will be.

Since the person in question has retuned from his current suspension, he has not been attending the games at the venue that he used to so I am unable to comment on his current behavior. But this is not the point.

I clearly believe that no matter what is opinionated here, it won't make any difference in the long run. I just hope you don't regret your decision.
