also, for poker, try http://www.pokertube.com

i have been watching high stakes poker on there for a while, its addictive

Sounds good - pokertube does.

I don't really want any shows. It's more for the sport.

I struggle to get through my 10 gig now, there's nothing good on TV. Except Neighbours

here's another site that is good for all us sports fans that dont have the cash to be paying for foxtel

http://www.myp2p.eu - streaming live sport

i have used it to watch the soccerroos games, and some cricket also. (also watched some snooker games without commentary, and some challenger circuit tennis :D)

just for fun i was watching the recent australia tri-series, and it even had the channel 9 commentary as well.

if you have a quick net connection, then check it out - 256kbs is probably not quick enough though.

I got foxtel purely for the English Premier League.

Just on that basis it's worth it (to me).

I have quite the rant brewing about what I think of their bs package options, but I won't bore you with it :)

how hard would it be for foxtel to charge 30 bucks a month for the extreme base package, then charge $2 a month for each channel.

this way, you could completely customise what channels you wanted, instead of getting "lifestyle crap" you could just get discovery etc.

if i could do this, i.e get all sport, comedy channel, discovery, and maybe showtime and thats it, then i would definitely get it.

they would lose money this way as people would only have to pay for what channels they actually want, but i would think that a lot more people would sign up - i would

I've lost count of the number of ppl that have said 'great idea but they can get lost cos I can't choose my channels'.

I think in the UK they let you pick your channels after a year or something (which sounds like once your initial contract expires).

yep, i would have foxtel by now if this could be done.

i suppose this would limit the exposure to other channels that foxtel would want as they sell advertising etc.

but in the age of digital television, why not have a user pays system?

monitor the time spent watching each channel, and if its over 2 or 3 hours in the month, then charge for this channel.

this way, everyone has access to every channel, but only pays for the ones that they watch most.

this would be not hard to implement at all
