Re: AA on $1 / $2 Cash Tables

Thought I should relay a related AA story form a couple of weeks ago.

Sarah and I were @ Crown playing some cash before our screening of Inception began.

We were on different tables ($2/3) and mine was fairly boring but for the fact there were 2 Hawthorn players on it (Clinton Young & Simon Taylor - who were both coincidently dropped the weekend following this Monday Session - Coincidence?), infact we were 6 handed for a bit so they broke up a table and filled our gaps.

1st hand after the new players (with decent stacks) sat down I wake up with AA. Unfortunately my $200 start stack had dwindled to about $140 after a messy AK hand 30 mins earlier.
UTG raise to $7 (a bit less then standard but he was new to the table)
Me (MP) re-raise to $21
Button (also new to table) Calls $21
UTG chucks in the extra $14

FLOP 10,9,2 Rainbow

UTG leads for $40
I Flat
Button ALL IN $90
UTG ALL IN $400 total (ish)
I call the rest of my stack

UTG Shows QJ (up and down draw)
Button K 10 (top pair 2nd kicker – or a squeeze play gone wrong)

Turn 10
River 3

I actually wasn’t even mad – cos they both had reasons for their actions – and we all cop the AA pain from time to time. Plus the side pot meant I didn’t have to reload.

So MattyMoo – I hope my tale shows that AA gets everyone and there aint alot we can do about it!

May all your pain be champagne!

raise that flop with someone to act behind you imo.

i always play faster on boards that contain combinations of 9/T/J with big pair or sets because there are so many scare cards that make life difficult for us on later streets.

Having said that, i don't know the table dynamics or player reads etc

It crossed my mind - and ironically the button who shoved said when we rolled our cards 'you flatting made me rule out an overpair'

I got what I wanted, just the 10 made me come unstuck.

Would a re-rasie have weeded out the K 10? Hmmmm can't be sure - perhaps, actually probably. Dang.

The open-ender would have likely called my re-raise (even if all in) he was that type of player. The next hand and got stacked on his flopped flush draw and bottom pair.

Ahhhhhhh hindsight! :)
