Am also thinking of other providers who operate 20 events or more.

Also just had quick chat with Robert.
Will be looking to play this in October over an entire weekend, buy in per player will be around $100 per player (may be more up to a max of $200).
I need to speak to both Chris' from APL, I would also look to have this hosted in a neutral venue or possibly the casino if I can get Galps to free up a weekend for us.
HU will be abit of an issue for him though.

Not a fan of SOME of the other leagues.....no names...

I think it's a great idea. Yep some of the other leagues we aren't fans of, but I'm sure all have a few really good players, and something like this would be an excellent opportunity to promote pub poker as a whole and increase it's legitimacy to a wider Audience

Yeah I get edited and warned for making the slightest positive comment about "them" yet then 888PL actively pursue dialogue to set up a major event around the whole thing! Hence my "I'm confused" post earlier...
Also, I seem to remember suggesting some type of match to find Australia's best 'pub poker player' many months ago on here and was completely shut down because no one wanted to offer 'support / coverage' of other leagues... Yet after yesterday (and the win of "the other leagues" player on Thursday night) they are all keen.
BTW, I do think it's a great idea. As mentioned in my previous posts on such a tournament many players try other leagues or venues to refresh themselves from playing the same old people. Co-operation to work together would be great. Players will still support the league they feel most comfortable playing at the end of the day. I don't think (as I assume 888 and "the other league" agree given the discussion already taken place) that there is any marketing risk as suggested previously and in fact I think it can be positive for both or others that may participate.
I feel somewhat as a catalyst for this as I, like many others, float between the leagues picking the games we want to play and I actively marketed both the Thursday and Sunday games to "the other league" players and they confirmed today that this was a major factor to their participation. (So sorry Edith and your team!) But in the end I think that this is only good for 888PL and their players ("a" - by actually just tipping the break even at both Thursday and Saturday events thus 888 for not losing out and "b" by giving 888 players the opportunity to experience playing against people they may not normally encounter).
Also, on the actual event I think that this could be a significant event and could be held. And based on it's success there's no reason it couldn't happen in other markets such as Victoria and then expand the State of Origin series 888PL offered previously into a much bigger event.
I know there has been some discussion around an event similar to the Berri Deepstack weekend away and this might fit that bill. Somewhere, like the Weintal in Tanunda where there is sufficient accommodation for a two day event could be the go... But I guess the biggest question that would need to be answered is who's cutting the cards? - The SB or C/O?
I hope this gets off the ground and I wish you all good luck!
