Perhaps TEAM APL should change his forum name.
Reflects really badly on APL in its entirety now, when in reality, we are all a bunch of like minded people who love poker.
A league v league concept would be awesome, and i bet lots of players would be wanting to get involved - i certainly would.

i think 888pl/APL head honchos should be picking players - no satellites.
i think it should be over as many games as possible to reduce variance.
a full weekend 10am to 10pm saturday and sunday would be great.

Intresting reading.
Nice post Tim. I think all that needs to be said here, is already said by both party's, and this thread should be now locked.

Re: teams event post game thoughts
Some extremely interesting and entertaining reading...!
Having played a huge ammount of NPL in SA and now a similar ammount in APL, Id love to throw my 10c in..... and im pretty sure I can spell
Rino is all passion and all gamble, so please forgive him for not being the perfect poster... but he is only a player and doesnt work for nor represent the whole of APL...
Garth & staff... I FREAKIN LOVE THIS IDEA! and as caj said is well overdue. Rivalry is healthy and I honestly think the only league that stands to gain much from this is APL...
I do have to agree as someone whos played and listened to the pub circuit for the last 3 years, arrogance is quite a defining factor of the 888PL, but then i guess market share makes it very hard to remain humble, doesnt it?
I am certain that both leagues contain awesome players and both leagues contain a large ammount of bad ones, something which i think is aknowledged by most APL players, but in my opinion, not by many 888 players. That I think is perhaps one of the biggest factors here, the simple recognition and respect that the average 888 player doesnt have, most having never played APL or thinking for one minute that it might contain players who are good or dare we say... better!!
And then our team wanderers goes and wins your teams event!
I must say quietly, that I would have loved to have heard some of the inhouse chat about that one! As if the donkey league took down our teams event??? do they even know how to play? hahahaha...
So as a result, we now have 888 wanting to regain some self respect by throwing down the challenge to put APL back in its place... Would the challenge have existed if wanderers came second? I think not. So lets not pretend that this is about putting up money, this is about pride... and quite simply, bragging rights. While it would be nice to think that this idea is all in the name of promoting "poker", we know that it is simply about 888 wanting to show its the best and being able to tell its players that their opinion was right all along...
As a player who will most certainly represent APL in the 20 player team (i was not one of the wanderers btw) I look forward to this event becoming a reality. The way i see it, APL has nothing to lose... so bring it on...
We are about to send a 16 man squad to the goldcoast to compete in a national event worth 300K, and every single one of them is capable of winning it, so Im certain our players can hold their own. As im sure yours can too....
The only difference being, we already knew ur players could... but ur only just beginning to realise how good our best really are....................

Re: teams event post game thoughts
Why are not these "better" players playing in the 888PL and taking the 888PL prize moneys ?
I am confused , it is said 888PL reeks "arrogance" , but there is not a slight hint of "arrogance" in any of the "others" posts ?

Prob because 4 x 300K events per year are more lucrative than 2 x 200K...? market share is a different story outside of SA..
Plus i know at least 8 players who will be playing in the next GF hoping to take some of that money home:P
And the other reason is parhaps 5K in chips for a $15 stamp card is easier on the wallet and the stomach than $20-$30 for 4K.
And its ok... "others" = APL, your allowed to say it.. u wont get into trouble....
