Postby bennymacca » Fri Sep 17, 2010 8:56 am

how many others went last night?

ill give a better trip report later, but it was pretty awesome. highlights were album track belter, and like a dog. the lead up to this song was fkn wicked. (i wont give spoilers just yet)

was a little disappointed with jet, their new stuff is pretty crap.

Not a huge Powderfinger fan, but I don't mind Jet..
What a shame you thought they were disappointing, why did you find them disappointing?

Where was the concert and how many more do they have?

i have jet's first two albums, and i thought they were great, especially their first album, which is killer.

with a few exceptions, their new stuff is just rubbish though - it is just about pop, whereas their early stuff is rockin. the only song from their new stuff that i liked live was rip it up, which they finished with.

the concert was at memorial drive, and it was PACKED. there would have been 10000 people there. i liked the venue, it was outdoors but it was waaaay better than the entertainment centre.

i think they have another concert this saturday, but they are playing about 50 shows around australia.

First concert I ever saw was Pearl Jam in March 1995 at Memorial Drive.

It was THE best atmosphere for a concert.

Hi Gents,

yes Dave I saw the Jam at the Drive as well as Midnight Oil and a number of other modern acts since. It is a great venue. I will never forget the Oils singing blue sky mine with a real thunder storm in the background with lighning all around.

benny the cunt,

Went the other night and saw the Finger and thought it was a professional clinical presentation. Was it a memorable performance. I dont know.

On the performance of jet. The last time they were at Memorial Drive they were the headline act. They sold out 10000 tickets on the back of their great first album. They are a rocking band but they are not a support act.

In relation to their albums their first and their current are the most similar and their best. Their second album was crap. They tried to be someone they wern't. I feel this current album is closer to where they were when they came on to the scene.
Have you met The Dols?

Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

yep, you could tell that jet didn't really like being the support act, and that their show would obviously be much better if they were headlining.

as for the powderfinger show, i loved that they played some of their album tracks - return of the electric horseman and capiocity and belter were some of the highlights for me.

tip for bacon - if you cant get close to the main stage, stand near the front of the sound stage in the centre of the arena instead of trying to get close to the main stage. - trust me :D

Mark/Jamie;

Probably saw you there ;)
I was lining up from 6am, I was next to the large tree that's there in the little car park waiting all day.

I have that concert on Cd somewhere..
