Iron Man 2 (2009)Not sure why I have not watched this sooner but I loved the first Iron Man and when I stumbled on a copy of IM2, I promoted it to the front of my "movies to watch" list. Sequels are often a disappointment, but I enjoyed the next chapter in the Iron Man story. The power source that is keeping Stark alive is also poisoning him. As Stark dies, his empire begins to crumble alongside him. He has to look to the past to keep his future alive as his main competitor, Hammer industries looks to take the lead in the weapons industry. The cast is great (heart Scarlett Johanssen) and a good watch overall.

Beautiful Kate (2009)I haven't really gotten into Australian movies nor am I a big fan of drama but I decided to give Beautiful Kate a chance to convince me that I am missing out. I remember seeing it on TV a few months ago. I was pleasantly surprised to see a wonderfully directed film and it deservingly was nominated for 10 AFI awards in 2009. Ned Kendall returns home after 25 years to an isolated property (filmed in SA's Flinder's Ranges) where his younger sister is looking after his ailing father. He recalls the tragic events of the last summer he spent here and his relationship with his deceased twin sister.
The film deals with the very sensitive and taboo subject of incest (did I mention this was a South Australian film - typical

) It really is a very touching movie and as I watched it unravel it really reminded me of some of the great Shakespearian tragedies.
