I was just going to write the same thing, so +1.

The Dream Team rewards those who support the league the most. I don't think the Dream Team is the best players in the league (with the exception of a few). It is the best of the high volume, most consistant players.

sunbury2 - if it is cash prizes you are playing 888pl to achieve. I would be aiming to make the State & Grand Finals, that is where the money is.

I did finish up in the top 20 DT, and yes I can see the point everyone is making ove rthe wide difference in the numbers we get at venues...

how about adjusting the multiplier? ie the more players in a game the lower the x might take some tweaking but you can run the numbers over the last season records and see how the balance changes.

I know there are some good mathematicians out there ;) start rigging up your spreadsheets

It is pretty easy to make the state final though just by playing at one venue or one online event, if you are half decent.
The dream team was different in the fact it encouraged you to go to different venues to try and accumulate more points. If you are at a massive disadvantage from the beginning why would you.
Though not quite the same, you can still win, love the game and socialise (to a point) playing the online games.
Why would you now spend $180 playing at 6 venues a week and 1 online, for the same reward as spending $40 playing 1 venue and a couple of online?

No even close to being the same!

Maybe take this season off from DT point chasing and see what happens. I am sure if the results at the end of the season are heavily weighted to QLD in an unfair way, things will be changed to make it fair for DT point chaser in all states.

Yes to the online, but no to the venue. I have not played much in venue this season due to other commitments. But my main venue, the Top 5 is not easy. This season the Top 20 were all solid, decent players and there will be quite a few players who usually play in the states who have not made it this season.

So there you just state what I said. It is easy to qualify for the state finals by just playing online.
Why would you then go to numerous venues.
There are probably 3 types of players.
1 play to socialise - wont chase points don't care.
1 play to finish in the top 5 of venues/ or online. If you finish in top 5 online(which you have admitted is easy) you qualify for states.
1 play to make dream team. Support numerous venues by playing more 5-7 times a week. If these people aren't able to compete on a level playing field, then they will just try to finish in top 5 of a couple of venues or online.

Why going to numerous venues if you get the same end result (which is qualifying for state finals) just by playing 1 or 2 away events or online.

As previously stated I don't chase dream team points. (Just reflecting others views)

It used to.
Now it seems to reward players who play in QLD.

It gets to a point where it doesn't matter how often you play, if the runners just aren't there.

I agree, it isn't. I know a few people though, who think they are treated as such. Dream Team rings, and being paraded at the big events as "your dream team" does put them up there as being elite, and the best players in the league.

To be fair we are playing the system "as is" , it wasn't setup to be a reward for playing in QLD

Like I said earlier, I play 1 venue a week and at that venue I didn't play all the games just 8 I think of the 13 weeks,(around 100 runners) I finished well in a lot of those games. So saying Qld'ers are playing 7- 10 games a week just to get DT points is a bit unfair to those of us that just play 1 or 2 a week, and still made the top 20 DT.

So season 4 2010 wont be able to be changed at this late stage but I am sure the team at 888PL are looking at it and will come up with a new system in the 2011 season.

In the meantime... come on up to the Gold Coast, QLD (I have a spare room) and have some fun stay 2 weeks play 30 games and qualify for DT

My point is that if you play 1 or 2 games a week in QLD it's far easier to get points because of the numbers.
It's not to do with how many times (As much)

If you can go out any night and play in a 100+ field, you are always going to have more chance of being up in the dream team

If someone can finish 6th in the dream team with a HOME average of just over 10 - then something is wrong.

OK... I had a little play with the DT leaderboard using my idea of using Home scoreboard position + State score board position with the lowest score being best.

Ralph B- Home 91st + Qld 1st = 92 (16th)
Ashleigh R- Home 5th + Qld 26th = 31 (6th)
Sabine R- Home 3rd + Qld 35th = 38 (9th)
Justine T- Home 74th + Qld 15th = 89 (15th)
Gary C- Home 29th + Vic 2nd = 31 (6th)
Pera T- Home 283rd + Qld 9th = 292 (20th)
Jason R- Home 19th + Vic 10th = 29 (4th)
Aldo R- Home 4th + SA 7th = 11 (1st)
Peter K- Home 2nd + SA 17th = 19 (2nd)
Will P- Home 28th + Vic 9th = 37 (8th)
David L- Home 6th + SA 18th = 24 (3rd)
Alan D- Home 64th + Qld 46th = 110 (18th)
Phillip H- Home 24th + Vic 16th = 40 (10th)
Andrew D- Home 16th + SA 13th = 29 (4th)
Paul F- Home 89th + Vic 6th = 95 (17th)
John M- Home 78th + Qld 52nd = 130 (19th)
Peter M- Home 14th + SA 36th = 50 (11th)
Kris M- Home 11th + SA 48th = 59 (13th)
Peter K- Home 33rd + SA 24th = 57 (12th)
Scott M- Home 10th + SA 52nd = 62 (14th)

The first thing that is noticable is that the (revised) top ten or so are all paople I have seen playing regularly in both home and away events all season.

I believe this makes it fairer to all.

Thoughts?
