It is easier to make the top 10 in Tasmania, then the top ten in queensland. This system would disadvantage Qld players by rewarding a tassie player who beats 20% of players and finishes in the top 10 in their state.

How can it be easier to get top 10? All the players in each state are scoring with the same format.

Yes it is easier to get into the points when you have less runners but low scoring scoreboards can change just as quickly as high ones. Atleast all states have a chance this way, as it stands now the Tassies have absolutely no chance what so ever.

There would be no disadvantage to any state as usings placings as a score means all states have same away scores.

The Dreamteam (as I understand it) is meant to be made up of players who continuously support 888pl in both the live and online circuits. For a player to post well in the State leaderboard and Home leaderboard surely they should be rewarded more than someone who has scored a bucket load of points in venue then play minimal games online.

good point

5 from each state = 20

Maybe they can play a tourney to determine overall placings?

Therefore the home games have no relevance to the DT?....Nah

Because there are 2000 SA players, and 35 tasmanians. ;)

So none of those '35' deserve a shot @ DT?

The more I think about it logically, the more I feel that any "lists" that take into consideration all of Australia, the more I think these people should play each other live.

I still think having a Dream Team per state is a far more accurate idea.

I can't see how that makes it less likely for people to play less games and therefore support the league.

Hopefully the numbers even out in new states/areas so it's less of an issue.

I don't try for the dream team, so as far as personal results go, it doesn't affect me. But personally, it does. I care for the 888PL, it's integrity and structure - and it's results.

I've been busy lately and only just caught up on this thread. Interesting reading!!

I think benny the cunt has hit on the best idea so far, with the top 5 in each state being rewarded, maybe something like this:
$20,000 DT prize pool split up in each state as follows:

1st - $2500 + DT membership
2nd - $1400
3rd - $700
4th - $300
5th - $100

Qualification criteria remains the same. i.e. best average of top 10 home + top 10 away (State) scoreboards.

This would give you your top 20 with the winner from each state + the winner of the GF making up the Dream Team for that Season (the winner of the GF would be a DT member for 2 running Seasons, which is more than well deserved).

I recon that system would be fair and gives the entire 888pl player base a chance, if they are serious about chasing it....

And Congratulations to Ralph Borja, great effort mate!
What?, poker without the river??, you've just made my dreams come true!!!

Sorry Jmack the system can never be fair because if you tinker with it for a state based qualifers then you would need to tinker some more so regional players could attempt to make the DT.

Best solution the dream team should be made up of all the major event winners for each calender year.
42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

I agree and disagree with this.

You can win a major event without supporting 888pl very much. So whilst you have earnt a spot by winning a major event, you are not out there every week supporting 888pl which is what makes being able to run the major events possible.

Sorry guys,

this is not really about the Dream Team itself but rather the Dream Team Scorebaord.

This season the Dream Team will be formed from the following people:

• Grand Final winner (1 player bi annually)
• Semi Final winners (four per season ATM)
• State Away Scoreboard Winners (four per season ATM)
• Top 5 on the Dream Team Scoreboard.
• Two wildcard entries – these entries will be decided via an online promotion. This promotion and mechanics will change seasonally to generate the greatest possible increase in FTD run rate and conversion.
• This will generate 15 – 16 qualifiers every season.

Previously it was top 3 from the GF, winner of each Semi Final and Top 5 from the Dream team. Already each state is ensured a representative via the Semi Final winner.

BTW - this discussion has only come to the forefront now because (as I predicted) the GOLD COAST players have dominated with their game selection opportunites. BUT if you have a close look at the DT Scorebaord those top 5 players got a helluva lot of AWAY games in compared to the mass volume players from other states. I will break down the stats later but these guys fit in 70+ games per season whereas the average for SA and VIC players was around the 40 mark.

I will go through this thread thoroughly later tongiht.

• 2nd $1,000 + $500 888PL Grand Final Seat ($1,500)
• 3rd $1,000 + $500 888PL Grand Final Seat ($1,500)
• 4th $500 + $500 888PL Grand Final Seat ($1,000)
• 5th $500 + $500 888PL Grand Final Seat ($1,000)

• 8th $500 888PL Grand Final Seat

ANd new proposed DT experiences:

3. DREAM TEAM EXPERIENCE: Every season we will run an online MTT with a $10,000 prize pool. A proposed payout structure for Season 4 with an Aussie Millions focus would look like:
