Yeh I realise it's odd but I think the environment I grew up in just makes it hard to switch to supporting Australia in cricket and rugby. I followed cricket from a very young age and played cricket since I was very young and all my childhood heroes have been South African: Shaun Pollock, Allan Donald, Gary Kirsten etc. A lot of family friends have been and still are heavily involved in SA cricket, some are even on the South African selection committee. Then we grew up despising guys like Warne - who can forget his battles with Cullinan. I think it may be a few decades before I ever consider supporting Aus in the cricket.

Yeh it's really hard to explain but hard to let something go when it's been a part of your life for so long.

That's a totally different scenario.

Firstly, the footy teams don't represent a state. Hundreds of thousands of people live in South Australia and don't go for the local teams. Nothing wrong with that.

The teams represent the team, that's it.

A country on the other hand, the national team from a sport is representing that country. They ARE the representative from them. If you support a country (in my eyes) then you support the teams they put forward. Only in my opinion of course.

I am not saying Trishan is wrong in thinking that way, not at all. I just don't personally understand how someone can support a country in some sports, but not another.

Nope
Of course I wouldn't.

And I wouldn't support England in ANY sport.

What he's saying is, regardless of which country he relocated to, he would support one nation.
