Info regarding Riverboat Poker cruise

Hi guys, have been making some inquiries about this "2 day deep stack poker extravaganza" thats being discussed.

The two best options at this point, with more info to come, are:

The River Rambler - Based at Renmark, seats 40 - 50, fully caterered and BYO encouraged. this is essentially a HUGE houseboat that has been decked out for river cruises. This is very affordable and has the BYO option.

The Murray River Queen - Based at Waikerie, seats 90 - 96, fully catered, NO BYO, rather pricey but worth it, they have 2 day packages as well as 5 hr cruises. (YES you have cabins!)

Both of these options can be explored depending on how much $ people wanted to spend.

I have quotes being emailed to me and I'll post them when I get the time.

All you have to decide is when would be the best time (month) to go, what price range and whether its a 1-dayer or a test match.

I can arrange all the tables and tourny set ups.

Just a brief example of the cheaper version - $50 a head would cover the days expenses (minus the grog and buy-in)

Brock has run these events on the Avoca steamboat before in Mildura and he wants to see them come back, and I've wanted to do it since i saw "Maverick"

I'll be happy to arrange it all, I just need your preferences.

Not just, "yeh, I'm in", I mean what you consider a good price, how long for, when, what size (50 or 90 runners) and all that Jazz.

Excellent work Ox, I'm sure this will get everyone talking about it again, but with a better picture of the logistics and options that might be involved.

I'd say the option that hosts the most players would be high on the list for me.

There also can't be a 'buy-in' to the tournament - it still has to be run as a freeroll.

I'm not so sure about that, we run home games that have a buy-in and no money is retained by anyone other than back to the players.

I understand that, but I'm guessing there's a capped number for those games? Otherwise, there'd be nothing stopping you from running a 'home game' with a buy-in attributed, for say 200 people?

i was always curious about this, just wondering whether my home game is "illegal" (even if its only 10 bucks buy in)

i pm'ed garth about this a while ago, nothing to do with npl, just because i though he might know, and he said that it was a very very grey area.

If there are no cash prizes, then i think an entry fee is okay as long as the "entry fee" is for something other than just the tournament (ie buffet lunch or cost to run tournament). Went through a similar process for my crusaders fundraiser
