Surely it cannot be Clarke to take over????? I know they don't have a lot of options, but you can't have a new captain who is borderline on selection.... oh, wait... that would be everyone 'cept Watson

Re: Australian Captain
not sure he is borderline selection anymore - has been in pretty good form since the england one day series, but he did have a poor ashes. i dont think he has ever been our worst performed batsman.
i actually enjoyed his captaincy in the eng aus one day series, he showed a bit of spark that a jaded ponting seems to have lost

Re: Australian Captain
Captaincy might distract Watson from doing what he does best. It's why Kallis was never captain of RSA or why a few others underperformed in their areas of strength after being captain.
Clarke looks likely. He's been pretty poor lately so the captaincy can't really distract him from much

Re: Australian Captain
pretty tough gig to open the batting, bowl a few overs AND captain.
i think clarke will be captain and he will do a decent job, but it will be largely by default because i dont really see any other options.

Re: Australian Captain
what would you rather see - tait not play the game at all, at any level?
i have to congratulate tait on deciding to only play 20-20s. im sure he would like to play all forms of the game, but obviously with his action that just stuffs his body incredibly.
if i were him, i couldn't handle the constant injuries and surgery either. why would you put yourself through that if you dont have to
