I hear ya Steve - I got home from the city at around 6am on Sunday, got a full hours sleep and then headed off for flight 1.
Good preparation? Probably not.
Half a dozen Red Bulls seemed to do the trick, and I managed to survive to the end of the session. Got up to 10k in chips reasonably early, and then floated between 10-15k for the next 2 hours.
When I got moved with about half an hour left before the end of play, i was only sitting on 6k. Doubled up in a less than attractive fashion (AJ v AQ, spiked a jack on the turn), then got knocked back down to 4k as last hand was called when Q8 hit an 8 against my Q10.
So, I had to wait 5 hours, come back for the recombine, knowing i was pushing something up an incline to progress too much further. All-in blind against 1 runner, K2 v QJ, a jack on the flop and no help for me ended my run. Finished up around 80th or so.
What a fantastic day, though. TTG hotel was an ideal venue to host the event. Kudos to Garth and co for an awesome day

Re: HOW DID YOU GO IN THE FINALS????
First of all, just want to say what a fantastic location for the state final. Never been to the TTG before but it had ample room, the meals looked great, service was good, nice ambience and a setting easy on the eye (inside and out).
For the part of the day that I was around the NPL staff also did a great job of making the day progress smoothly, so well done to you guys as well.
As for my game, well I was reasonably happy considering I developed a cold the night before. I went out around 80th in the 1st flight, or about 25 mins before the regroup cut-off.
I was pretty much short-stacked all day (never even got above 4g's), but lasted until the 800/1600 blind level. My pocket pairs held up all day-8s (twice), Qs & Ks, three of which were all-ins so that was good.
From memory pushed my last 1800 all-in on Q-9 suited, but A-Q had me dominated from the start, so my luck had run out.
To make a good day even better, I was the lucky winner of a party poker chip set, so I'd like to thank NPL for that too.
To top the day off I also placed 6th at Willaston on Sunday night!
