Yes you're right, they are usually stock standard replies that you get, as with any customer support.

I know that personally, I try to check all possible causes before resorting to customer support, and I try to include a bit more detail other than I just can't connect. But that's me.

And as for getting upset.....well as a paying customer I believe I have the right to get upset. As does everyone. I am not jumping up and down, screaming blue murder and demanding that Garth find a resolution to the problem. I'm just putting forward my thoughts on the issue.

I have no suggestions for a solution or alternative as I will happily admit I am not an expert when it comes to computers, programs, etc.

I experienced the same issues as everyone else last night, what I have found is some glitches with the software that are caused by the latest auto update.

What I did first was to go to PROGRAMS AND FEATURES section via CONTROL PANEL. I tried to repair the 888Poker program, by double clicking on it and selecting the REPAIR option.

Unfortunately this is where I found out there were clashes, I received a pop up notification telling me that some folders in my current install were more recent than the ones in the repair patch. I selected YES TO ALL in in the install option and then got asked another (via another pop up) to select an install path.

I decided (frack this) and I cancelled the operation and then removed the program completely. I did this ny uninstalling it and then going to my registry and removing the two registry folders associated with 888Poker.
This can be done by opening the REG EDIT function (just type in REGEDIT in your start bar) you then want to delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\PACIFICPOKER and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\POKERINSTALLER.

Once I completed this I just went to the website (http://www.888pl.com.au/Documents.asp?ID=102&Title=New+to+Online+Poker+) and clicked on the DOWNLOAD NOW button and re installed the software.

I have played for a few hours today and have not had any lag or time out issues (there were issues with Lag last night as Glyn was railing me and was seeing flops almost a full two seconds before me at times). Nor have I had disconnect issues.

I will of course be forwarding all of this to 888 and asking them to investigate, I was very dissatisfied last night and I will be taking steps to have this rectified and I would like to see my players compensated in some way.


As to CHAT - I have NFI what is going on there but obviously there has been a reversal in policy, I think it should be implemented in the new regular games if last night is anything to go by.

Garth, if you are geting that kind of message and you *haven't* already been uninstalling/installing the software but rather just letting it update as per when it tells you to, then the problem is clearly to do with the software itself and/or it's piss poor update process.

The software is a lot better than when it was just pacific poker, but I def agree with you at being unimpressed with it all.


I'll be surprised if you don't get something like "get everyone to uninstall/reinstall" as the solution. I know that's a glass half empty type of comment but it's painfully clear they don't have a clue what they're talking about.

Actually, since you mentioned it....

The repair option compares the files now to when they were installed and notifies of any major differences, such as if some of the files are much newer.

If you do feel the need to uninstall the software...

Don't use regedit, it's asking for trouble.

When you uninstall the program you should be presented with automatic or custom. Choose custom and then keep choosing "select all" before clicking next.

reboot your pc.

Then download + install the software.


**edit** Doing it that way will still retain your game settings and login name if you have asked it to save that information.

Close program, re-open it. Worked well for me the 3 times it happened to me.

Observer chat just means harps can pop up from nowhere and type stuff - which i always find amusing!

I have just spoken to 888 Management and they are looking into the issues our players are experiencing.

In other good news, observer chat will be implemented across all 888PL tours.

NOTE: In the past we had a lot of anti social behaviour from Keyboard hero's and I have quite enjoyed the fact that players weren't allowed to abuse others after they were eliminated. If it returns I will be removing it forthwith because I am not going to have my support team wasting time calling idiots and telling them to pull their head in.

I got disconnected once yesterday & I was back in the game in 1 minute, Yes I have poker 5 "& I love the old program" as most of you know.
As for railing, The late night deepstack "the new game has Railing & people love it"
It is a good thing you can always turn the chat off if you don't like it. But most do

My point being they don't do it again. Is a lot different to 1+ year ago when I got banned, People do realize they have done wrong & don't do it again.
The other day I was talking to some1 who's chat was off for 12 months & he has changed completely & was good to finally have a convo with this person.
