Its not just the A-rag hand i see over played.
I often see players over bet on many hands. Once the over been it made its many opponents look down and see an ACE, even two picture cards or a pair and call.
This is essentially poor play by both players. When player A over bets the pot they are commiting their entire satck to that hand. The reason player B calls is they usually have either a passport to back them up just incase they are out or often they are short stacked and are ready to gamble what what would seem to be a good hand for them.
As i mention in my guide to good poker. Its in the best interest to either just call the raise, or make your raise more appropiate. That way if you miss the flop you can get away cheaply.
Be very careful about re-raising a raise. Often the initial raiser will move all in over the top sole based on what i have discussed above. So next time its your turn to act rememeber, create you bets based on the blind level, not the size of your stack.
Hope this helps out

Got to know when to fold them.
Nathan's advice again wholesome ,
Tell them if you feel you must--- the Donald Key's will never learn . Those that wish to develop their game will take your advice, for some it takes time and expierence .

Xtal, I think he is talking to you perhaps? tho I guess you weren't rerasing, you wre just rasing to 60x BB. See, 3000 isn't a good raise from 50, even when your kicker is another A
If only you'd read Nathans post BEFORE the finals

Re: Overplaying ace rag
Well after last nites experience I am starting to wonder if there is a skill attached to No Limit Holdem.
I think if your drunk enough to not even know the value of a chip and lucky enough to play any two cards and win a final then I'm getting extra Brandy in my Coke next time.
I mean that to be tongue in cheek guys and gals as I realise there are certain skills we need to apply to make us better players of the game.
It was one of those nites where the final table had some really good and I do mean really good players of the game getting so frustrated with this burbling, floundering drunk at the table.
I guess I need a chill pill as the dude seemed to be nice guy but after he won it was noticable that only two or three of us actually congratulated him for his win.
By the way if your wondering, I was actually on the rails watching after three lots of pocket cards getting smashed on the river. No joy for me, LOL.

the worst was my pocket 6s against 2, 4 off and he flops the nut straight haha
