Yeah I don't care about the changes to the event, I was just more musing on ibd77s point that people remember/care who wins States.

I also fail to see how adding a massive customer base in NSW affects happenings in SA??

Whilst I do agree 100% that the Main Event is worth trying to qualify into at all opportunities, I would hardly call the Semi's a free-roll. All players that have qualified into it (with the possible exception of a few last minute APL event winners) have spent money attending their weekly events over the Season.

I am grateful for the great opportunities you guys provide for your customers, but this decision really confuses me, and might really hurt your business in the long run when your players decide that State Finals are no longer worth qualifying for. That's the last thing any of us want to have happen.......

This is a completely incorrect assumption to make Jo.

Without going into specifics, I can guarantee that in the past 6 months we have not grown our active player base, even with the takeover.

You are talking symantics there Caleb by saying "active" player base. Your actual player base has grown with the take over. It is the Fullhouse Group's team's job to come up with ways to convert the "inactive" players into "active" players by offering incentives....

The main point is that what happens in one State should not affect other States. As Trishan pointed out, it should be based on what is happening in each individual State, for their own State Champs. What has happened here is that we should be getting more qualifiers into the State Champs (in fact I would say we WILL get more qualifiers considering it is top 5 instead of top 4 venue, PLUS all the APL qualifiers!!!), and our guaranteed prizepool has been reduced more that 33% of what it was LAST SEASON?????? (last season it was 15K + buy-ins....). It just really does not make any sense?????

Having said all that, I do realise that interest in State finals has been dropping, but I don't think lowering the prize pool is the way to fix this, in fact, it is very likely to do the opposite and end up killing State finals altogether.......

I would love to know what the % attendance at state finals by country players is now compared to 2 years ago.

For many country players just to play the State final meant 2 or 3 hours plus travel just to get there, over night accomodation, meals out etc, and maybe even having to organise a day off of work on the monday due to the event finishing so late on a sunday night ( 11pm etc),

For me personaly the desire to play these events has been dropping by season (and i'm a past winner, so you would expect me to be super keen), for many reasons, largest of which is the fact that i cant justify a full day away from my family to play poker, but this is deminished even more if the prize for acutally attending and binking this thing is now only $1k and a ticket to an event in another state that i cant probably cant attend and cant transfer.
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

the whole cant transfer thing really doesn't make much sense to me - fair enough not having direct buyins, but i would have thought that people winning tickets and then not showing up would be about the worst case scenario

Hey guys,

I don't like this as much as you do. How do you think the boys in SA feel when we get told that our prize pools are dropping and other states are going up. All we ever want here is the most possible for our players. We want you playing for the biggest prize pools at the most venues on the most nights with the best TC's. Why we come to work each day is to try & make sure our players are being kept happy. I am sorry to say that the prize pool distribution for SA is a decision based purely on numbers.....and while that sucks, I understand why and it makes sense. Again, it sucks....but it makes sense. There's a simple formula being used. And yes it takes into account all states. In order to be a part of a national competition that can offer Grand Finals and Main Events this is the way it must be, the way it has to be.

Venues & Players = Revenue to FHG
Revenue = contributed Prize Pool
The more revenue = the more prize pool.

This is then divided amongst the states based on events run and taking into account player numbers.

It was mentioned that the prize pool share should be based on revenue not veneus. The thing is they are one & the same. In fact, NSW & QLD would be getting an even larger slice of the prize pool pie if this were the case as player numbers at their events are generally higher than the other states.

I can assure you all that we are working hard to add more venues to the 888PL & APL rosters. More venues = more revenue for FHG in SA = more prize pool funding.

Tim.

So basically Tim, you have just confirmed that the APL take over was very bad for us here in SA.....

I am not sure he means that JMACK. He said:

That to me says the reason your prizepool is down is because SA is not generating as much revenue as the other states. That's fair enough.

Trishan, APL in NSW is HUGE. It seems that SA 888pl players are paying the price for APL being on the scene because of the way prizepools are worked out, factoring NSW into the mix.....

i.e., a disproportional amount of 888pl money is being shipped to APL players.......

Well that's what I thought in my earlier post but Tim seems to say that while prizepools are calculated based on player numbers instead of revenues, this is "one and the same".

FHG get paid by venues per player and not based on a percent of what players spend. That's how venues make money. They pay $20 per player and hope that the average spend per player exceeds that so as to make a profit.

So if NSW have more players and venues over there are paying per player, then it seems reasonable that NSW will generate more revenue than SA and so receive a higher prizepool.

Tim is suggesting that while the current system is not based on the revenues contributed by each state, the current prizepools would reflect the prizepools under a state by state revenue system anyway.

I think where there might be an issue here Tim is that this is a transition season. When did NSW start this season? It's unfair that they get a larger piece of the pie based on numbers if they came in half way through a current season. Not sure of the timing of it all.

Have a look at the last line of my last post. I am not sure you understand the dynamics of 888pl/APL, and the effect it has had. I am also not sure that your assumption of how venues pay FHG is correct, but that is off the subject....
