This is my understanding:

FHG Profit $500K. 20% of profit is total prizepool available for State Finals = $100K

PRE MERGE
State (Number of Events/Total Events*100)
NSW (20%)
SA (30%)
VIC (40%)

NSW Prizepool = 20% of $100K = $20K
SA Prizepool = 30% of $100K = $30K
VIC Prizepool = 40% of $100K = $40K

POST MERGE
State (Number of Events/Total Events*100)
NSW (50%)
SA (20%)
VIC (30%)

NSW Prizepool = 50% of $100K = $50K
SA Prizepool = 20% of $100K = $20K
VIC Prizepool = 30% of $100K = $30K

Also the last time I checked, venues in Vic received a fixed amount per player.

That is the point, the merge has hurt 888pl players in SA (and probably VIC as well)....

Jo,

For SA, yes we have been hit with prize pool reductions due to the take over. I would very much like to see this increased and will continue to push for the SA players.

But Jo, "888PL money being shipped to APL players?" If you want to look at it that way and if that was actually the case it would actually be the other way round as there are more APL venues & players than 888PL accross Australia.

In the end, it's all players money (not 888PL's or APL's) that is being distributed accross the states. I can only hope that we can convince more SA venues that poker is a good thing & more SA players to get out there & smash up the felt with their mates. (yeah I know, catch 22, need players & venues to build prize pool but without prize pool it makes it more difficult)

I'm not sure what more I can say guys? I'd love to tell you about our plan for Super Saturdays but if you are concerned about ME tickets not being transferrable or not being able to attend the event in February then there may not be much point. And yes I know that a special events Saturday once or twice a month doesn't change the fact that the State Champs Prize Pool has been cut. But we would love to see as many SA players into the Main Event as possible and that's what I will be pushing. Yes, the Main EVent is the premium 888PL/APL event and that's where we want to see you all.

and Trishan, that's not right on the venue/revenue front but doesn't really matter. Just take my word for it that the reveune generated from the venues is what pays for the prize pools accross the states. Also to note is the takeover of the APL was official July 1st so yes, the APL players have been in for the full season. (operations may not have commenced until a later date but the takeover was confirmed)

The Queenslanders will be dissapointed you left them out, so will the Tasmanians. And POST you forgot the Sandgropers.

LOL. Left out the unimportant states for this simplistic analysis. Would have left out SA as well but seeing as this is the SA state finals we are talking about...

Thanks Tim, you and FHG have my full support as always (you know that). The only reason I make the 888pl/APL comparison is that, as you say above, "For SA, yes we have been hit with prize pool reductions due to the take over.". That is the point I was making. I know it is probably even out of your control, but since they are being kept as separate leagues (even with different rules, don't get me started on that can of worms with a combined final!!), it doesn't make much sense to me to hurt your existing and loyal player base, which is the 888pl players.....

going from 15k to 10k for state finals, AND going from 100k to 500k prize pool for the main event is something that i think is worth trading off, providing there is LOTS of opportunities for us to satellite into, in my opinion.

Yeah, good point for the serious players benny the cunt, but for most of the players, they are not looking to that big picture and I am worried that the State Finals here will suffer to the point that they no longer exist due to lack of interest, and that will also filter back to people not bothering to turn up at venues, which can kill the league here altogether.....

It's all about incentives. If you take the incentives away, you lose players.....

You've gotta take care of your grass roots first in order to maintain those bigger picture rewards.....

For the record, I have been out playing and have heard the words "why bother, it's not worth it" too many times, and it is the reason I am so worried....

Lol this is amazing what I see is the pie got bigger but SA got a smaller slice. Did the total numbers of SA players drop, a little but I doubt it was 50% which is a 20k prize pool reduced to10k.
