First question - is it 100% established that the tickets will be non-transferrable? if so, what are the reasons for this?

Second Question - if there is a legitimate reason why you cannot play, having qualified, could you defer your ticket to the next final?

Third Question - If you already have a main event ticket (sick brag), what happens if i now go and win a second ticket? Will i hold those tickets over to the next final, get cash for it, or be able to sell to someone else?

1) If you don't have direct buy-in but allow players to transfer their tickets, it becomes the only source for being able to purchase the ticket, thus creating a false market. It will also allow anyone with a spare $1200+ to just buy a ticket without supporting the satellites and event to qualify. While this is a premium event, we still want the average pub player to be able to qualify on the same playing field.

Basically, you don't want one without the other.

2) I think so. Have to check with the big boys on that one.

3) Yes, transferable. The only time they are is when you have 2 or more tickets.

As for everything else, I leave it for the higher ups.

Dave: I deliberately ignored the elephant in the room when I used quotes around "best".

Fact is, most players stink like a really stinky thing. That's a different discussion though, and best held in another thread.

If the quality was the issue, I'd flat out not even bother to start with.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

The Grand Finals were premium events - and IMHO suffered zero percent from BDI/Transfers.

I know Pete, I'm just musing at the reasons.

i think direct buyins most definitely improve the standard of the tournament - all of team batman bought their tickets except old-man daryl, and i can assure you that none of us would have bought in if we didnt think we were at least a decent shot at making some cash.

buying someone's ticket has no effect on the ability of anyone to play a satellite, but i get your point, you want the satellites to be supported.

ok, how about this

lets say, for arguments sake, there are 10 satellites per state per main event. (could be more or less, but doesnt affect my argument). what if you only opened ticket transfers to people that have played at least 3 satellites, and they could only buy other people's unwanted tickets?

as far as i understand, this would be quite easy to run a query on only satellite games to generate a list of people who are eligible to buy someone else's ticket.

this way, you are really targeting the hard core 888/APL supporter - a person that bricks off a few satellites AND STILL decides that he wants to play in the main event.

what do you think of that idea?
win win right? it allows people who cant play a way to get rid of their tickets, and it allows only people who genuinely tried to get a ticket and failed a way to get a ticket.

I agree benny the cunt

Though I think that if you open it to transfer/sell tickets, you need to open it to DBI.

Where are the Ts&Cs for the new ME as they stand? Or are they still being worked out? I'm confused.

Who can you transfer your second ticket to if you buy ins aren't allowed? Will anyone that has played the prerequisites(10 games per 6 months) be able to buy tickets from players that have won 2? Or do you mean they are transferable to the next ME?

I like Jo's idea of allowing ex dream team members to buy in, mainly for selfish reasons.... I like this thread. I also like Pete's points about dates.

Surely if this event is at Crown or another major casino the dates will have to be settled months in advance if not already? The sooner we can get details the better.
If you ask me, Muhammed Ali in his prime was much better than anti lock brakes.

Actually Mike, if I am correct, it is just the opposite. Crown won't lock in their schedule's until the last possible minute. This is the reason for the date being up in the air...

Well that's how much I know. Lets play it online, I bet we can lock in dates with 888.
