Re: Bonus Points in the last three weeks season.
when i first started playing npl poker they use to offer a promotion for 1 month of each season where all tourny winners would gain automatic entry to states
I think it would be a good idea to revamp this idea so that in the last fortnight of a season any tourny winners can get a seat at finals.
That way the venue will still be full of people trying to make states at the end of a season and the people who have shown up all season wont be disadvantaged by their top 5 status being under threat either

Steve, I believe you are thinking of the time when the NPL held the Aussie Millions Freeroll where winners of a tourney in a 4 week period played off for a ticket to the aussie millions.
As far as I know they didn't give away seats for state finals...

yep, aussie millions for a month (was nearer the end of season 1 though, and was run the day before the state finals)
and in the first 4 weeks of season 2, there were entry in to the qualifiers for the sky city champs

Re: Bonus Points in the last three weeks season.
I stand corrected, i still think that offering seats to states as an additional prize for first would keep people playing for the last three weeks of the season whilst keeping it fair for people who have been playing all season to qualify at their venue.
As most of the winners are likely to have qualified for states already there wouldnt be that many people that qualified for states this way but it would keep people that are still trying going to alot of venues chasing a win so i think it may help solve the problem that this pole was designed to assist

Re: Bonus Points in the last three weeks season.
Not a bad suggestions Steve, but we already have 750+ qualifiers each season.
With your suggestion that would increase the field size by another 420 players (140 * 3).
And to be quite honest, it's a long enough day with 600 players turning up let alone about 900.
I think we can safely say though that not many people want to see bonus points.

Re: Bonus Points in the last three weeks season.
If getting lucky once got you into the state final there'd be plenty of people saying 'well why did I bother even showing up all those other times?'
I've heard worse ideas but I think that would have a negative as well as a positive impact and would therefore probably make itself redundant.

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Garth didn't you say there might be a chance of having the finals over 2 days or 2 venues or was it one of my suggestions, LOL Getting too old for this memory stuff
