Oh and we would tell all 888PL players about it if it affected them, if you played pub poker you would have been aware of the takeover and intergration already.

Not that i think i have the right to tell you how to run a business, i would personally say that have another set of qualifers into the mix would effect 888PL players. I would have thought that in poker world that now more than ever requires greater transparency that a simple "hey people we have another brand on board that are playing to the same set of qualifying rules as everyone else etc" would not be a big ask.

Explain to me how it affects 888PL or APL players?

To me, this is as if 888PL/APL went out and signed up a whole bunch of new venues. You wouldn't expect a big song and dance about that (I'm sure I don't know every pub in SA that holds poker).
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

If i'm not mistaken the ultimate aim of the game is the "main event" with another group of players now eligible to qualify for this it will directly effect how people may plan their strategies to try and qualify. This forum is full of people discussing how and when they plan to try and gain qualification into the "main event". This directly effects those plans as the event does have a cap and is exclusive. Many people on here discuss math and probability etc and this directly changes that. So yes i would say it does effect 888PL and APL players.

bacon's point is relevant though - there are many other factors that affect qualification, such as venues signing up and dropping out, and these are extremely minor. If these new players were about to double the field then it is probably an issue that people should know about, but i doubt it is doing that.

Re: Pub Poker playing @ State Finals
There will be 60 odd adittional qualifiers from Pub Poker, compared to the 1200 that APL and 888PL generate.
There was a last minute change as PP lost their finals venue so we included them in the State Champs as a sign of goodwill.
At this time we launched a major promotion around the network and did not want any messages or other issues to confuse players. Hence the lack of announcement around the Pub Poker partnership.
We wanted all focus on the Golden ticket promotion!
An announcement was not, and is not, necessary on this matter at this time.

And that is what we did in effect - signed another 30 odd games on with us.
