heard something on the radio this morning about "toasting the pitch" and this was a tradition. Other news reports mentioned toasting it from under the score board.

Either way, it was a bloody horrible look. I thought it was an over reaction until I saw the video footage. Not cool.

surely they could toast the pitch by standing next to it, not sitting on it

Most of the guys on the pitch were actually doing some work on that big crack on a good length. The Head Curator only got there at 7pm, that's why they were late. I didn't see a problem with it, they didn't have any shoes on, and they know what they are doing....

Not sure how they got themselved filmed doing it though!!

It's wrong because of the ICC regulations about when a pitch is meant to be covered

indian news crews were there, obviously doing the nightly news crosses from the ground etc.

this. there is really no reason at all why they ever should have been ON the pitch. standing right next to it maybe, but never ever on the pitch imo.

BIG DEAL!!! Someone is standing on the pitch.... Whoop the freaking chook !!!

They throw a 3 tonne roller on the pitch the morning of day 1 so I can't see what the big sook is about.

I'm not sure of the exact regulation, but it mentions that a pitch must be covered for certain times leading up to a test match.
