For those of you who haven't seen the proposed structure/payouts here they are

http://themaineventpoker.com.au/images/ ... change.pdf
Just wanted to hear peoples thoughts on both.
First thing i want to say is i think the structure is fantastic. 30 Minute levels at the start is fair enough because it is a 3 day event and they need to stay true to that. Then the increase to 40minute levels on day 2 is great. The best part is there is extra levels which is a luxury that most crown tournaments don't have so if we can stick to that structure it will have a really relaxed feel where people will get a chance to play there games and not be a shove-fest.
Secondly the prize-pool distribution. I think 50 people getting paid is good and a minimum payout of 2,000 is actually quite nice reward for your time.
However there is some clear flaws in the top payout structure. Obviously the pay-jump from 9th to 8th to 7th being 3,000 and then 7th to 6th being only 2,000 whilst 6-5 is a massive $12,000 jump.
The other thing i think is a bit silly is that 5th and maybe 4th are locked into an Aussie Millions package.
I think its a good idea and a great way to get some advertising into a bigger event however i just think taking $15,000 out for a tournament package is a very large portion of the 4th and 5ths result.
Just my thoughts guys looking forward to hearing yours and super pumped for this event!!

Re: MAIN EVENT: Structure/Payouts.
even though there are 30 minute levels on day 1, the start stack will still be worth 18.75bb in the last level of day 1, and 15bb to start day 2, so there is still plenty of play. i reckon average stack will be up over 40bb for most of the tournament, maybe dipping a little bit towards the final table, but otherwise great.
with day 2, are they going to play down to a certain number? will it be the final table or some other number?
lastly, some sort of average bb guarantee for the final table would be awesome, even if it is 25-30bb

Me thinks X amount of Aussie Millions may have been a condition of hosting the event.
I like it, winning JUST an Aussie Millions seat when a person that finished below you recieves $9000 (for example) would be a bit harsh, but getting a decent amount of cash too suits everyone.
It looks like a great event, should be a fun weekend.
May all your pain be champagne!

Re: MAIN EVENT: Structure/Payouts.
I am with Kahle on this one guys. Is there a reason top 5 get a package?
Not only is it taking $15k p/place out of the prize pool, it doesnt really give that prestiege of winning a package and finishing first than if you finished 5th.
I understand advertising and all, but why not a package for top 2 and then opening event tickets for next 3? That would free up almost $40k in extra prize money.
Just my thoughts obv

I'm not playing so my opinion could mean squat, but I'm with Whitmee on this one.

Re: MAIN EVENT: Structure/Payouts.
im kinda on the fence about it. i certainly liked the fact that i got a main event ticket for finishing 6th at the last grand final.
It is a massive bubble from 6th to 5th though. i do like the idea of giving Event 1 tickets away. Hell, you could even give the whole of the final table Event 1 tickets and then give the top 3 aussie millions main event tickets and there would be an extra 15k that you could distribute

MAIN EVENT: Structure/Payouts.
It's a proposed prize pool gents. We are still looking to award five packages but may adjust that depending on the direction we want to take this.
This is more than a poker tournament and as such you should be aware that we are not looking to pay out in a standard casino tournament format.
We may even decide that awarding $10,000 out of the prize pool for every royal flush might be worth doing, doubtful but one of the ideas thrown out there.
Or even awarding a car randomly to a player.
You have to stop looking at this event as a strict casino tournament, it's more than that. It is an event that has a ticket price of $1200 on it. That $1200 is returned to players in experiences, merchandise, entertainment and in a tournament prize pool.
Whilst most of you are poker players, the majority of the field are players who do not have a lot of experience in big tournaments, and are seeking entertainment before correct tournament prize payouts and deep stacked events.
Needless to say one player will be walking away with at least $100,000 in cash and prizes come February 27th.
