Adelaide, North may drop off towards the end of season if their younger players run out of legs but they both have easier draws and the competition being so close, 4th to 10th might only be a couple of games difference.

Under 2 hours to the real start of the season. Can't wait! I think Carlton -12.5 @ $2 (Sportsbet) is a good way to go but a lot of people are optimistic about Richmond after a decent showing in the NAB cup. I think Carlton has too much class for them though and despite a very poor pre-season think they can step up here in the season proper.

if adelaide can stay fit, like they are now, with their draw they can definitely push for a top 4 berth.

Case in point: don't look too deeply into pre-season form. I expected a surge by Richmond in the 3rd quarter and it was a quite a surge indeed but Carlton's speed and class prevailed. Expected a bit more from Richmond in the last quarter but looked like they got fatigued.

When they made their surge Bruce asked Tim Watson if he thought Richmond would roll over the top of them and he bluntly replied no. I can see why now.

So Hawks/Collingwood tonight. Hawks are getting a bit short IMO ($1.67) Collingwood has injuries but still have some really good players. Hodge is a big out for the Hawks as well. Still unsure who I am tipping in this game.

Hawks still have work to do but if I were a Hawks supporter, I would be optimistic about the team this season.
