I actually have an unlimited hosting plan with unlimited bandwidth and what not so I would happy to offer this up for use. What I don't have is the technical knowledge Dave has, so I have no idea how feasible it would be to use my hosting (if hosting costs are indeed an issue.)

Unlimited doesn't actually mean unlimited, I hope you know that :)

Hosting any site takes more than just bandwidth and space. One that runs on a database (like a forum) takes a lot of CPU power and memory allocation. This is why I host the forum on a VPS so that I have dedicated resources that are able to cope with the masses of database requests required each time you view a page.

An example of growth is my other forum safooty. Started on a $5/month plan on a shared hosting in the USA, moved to a higher shared hosting, $15/month, moved to an Australian host for $40/month, then an entry level VPS for $80 and now costs $140 a month just to keep running.

But no, hosting/money/space requirements aren't the only reason for the forum coming to the end of life. I guarantee that in a month or three, you would have all moved on and forgotten about it :)

Anybody think tapatalk has contributed to less posting on the forum? How often do you just read stuff but not post. I hardly ever start a new topic via phone also

I read this post the other day and was shocked. I decided to think about what I wanted to write as my good bye, something that summed up all that I had learned, the friends I had made, the advice I had given and received, the times we celebrated the successes of poker players , we giggled at the funny things posted and the times we argued about strategy. A couple of days later I am still looking for the words to sum this up and those who know me well know I am seldom lost for words. So I will just say this wp sir, you will always be remembered and sadly missed.

side note- lately I have been an avid reader yet a seldom poster

I haven't been around that long, but sad to see the forum go.

Many Thanks to all associated with the running of the forum.

Hope to see you all, on the felt sometime :D

Yeh I know - but I guess for my purposes as a recreational webmaster it pretty much is "unlimited" as I don't run any high traffic/high bandwidth using sites.
