Also save's the dealer from having to count chips all the time.

Des is quite correct on this. It saves alot of time when sorting out side and split pots.

Remember that our tournaments are a turbo format and why would players want to waste valuable time using 8 green chips instead of 2 black chips.

Always try to use the biggest chips avaliable for bet you wish to make.

We had a discussion about this at one of the tables I was at the other day.

Somone bet with green chips and another player piped up and said they would not accept that kind of behaviour, as it shows a lack of respect for the table.

They believed if you have a black chip then you should bet with that.

I guess the only trouble I have with it is that at times if the bet is made at the end of the long tables it can make it a little confusing, due to being a little difficult to count.

I honestly have more issue with splashing chips and not putting them in the middle of the table at the end of each round of betting.

Couldn't agree more!

It can be considered a little on the cheeky side to deliberately use green instead of black for example but they're your chips to use so spend em how u want, if you want to use greens maybe stack em so they're easy to count or something. Verbalising is most definitely the way to go.

But that pales in comparison to just chucking your chips in the pot and/or leaving bets lying around willy nilly. It's not exactly difficult to wait your turn, put your bet in front of you, and let the dealer do the change at the end of the betting and then put the chips in the middle.

There should be a chip-fondlers anonymous group or something :)

I saw one of our Mods get pretty firey after someone took change before betting finished, after I raised all-in.

I will often say to people "just wait until the betting has finished" when they start counting out, even when I'm not the dealer.

i think i would go to that. :D

i cant stop shuffling my chips. (my record is an 18 chip shuffle, i.e 2 stacks of 9 to a stack of 18, but i have only ever done it once)

i usually shuffle 2 stacks of 5 or 6, that seems to be a good number

gets pretty annoying when i am short stacked, and i have nothing to shuffle any more! i think i need to learn the "three chip take middle one out, do a spinny and put it back in the middle" trick,

seems like i am short stacked more often than not this season anyway. lol there is always the good old 2 stacks of 2 chips shuffle that all of the newbies seem to love LOL
