Betting with lower denomination chips

I should have said the only other thing that kinda gets to me is when several people go all in and the amount varies so much amonst several players, instead of sorting everything out on the spot, why can't the cards be played out then the winnings dispersed?

I just feel that at times it slows the play down so much and allows so much confusion.

I can be very wrong on this, I guess it is just something I can't understand.

I agree with most pots Nevah, but if there are 2 or more live players, I'd rather the pots are sorted.

As long as everyone stays out of the way and lets the dealer work out the pots, it shouldn't take that long. And if the dealer can't count, they can delegate to someone else.

Pots don't need 6-10 people working them out.

i hate people touching the chips in the pot when i am dealing. thats my pot goddammit, and i will change u when i am good and ready

I saw one of our Mods get pretty firey after someone took change before betting finished, after I raised all-in.

I will often say to people "just wait until the betting has finished" when they start counting out, even when I'm not the dealer.

That was me... lol. And then the player concerned got all aggro over it lol.... too funny.

After your all in no one knew how much the actual amount was because he had taken change from your stack. I asked him to put the change back and he refused. So I had to change the higher denomination chip (500 into 100's) and sort it out so everyone knew how much it was to call. Then he gets in my face over it.

The pots should always be sorted before the cards are flipped.

If there is more than 1 side pot then call a TD/TA over.. even if you aren't in the hand.

I should have stated that I can understand if there is still live players that it should be worked out.

If not that can lead to confusion.

Personally if that happened on my deal I would be the delegator, no way I can work all that stuff out.

But I do have to laugh, I watch poker players sort out really confusing messy pots, but ask them how to turn an iron on!!!??
There is no way they can work that out... hahahahahaha

What you are all discussing here are not exactly rules of poker but original etiquette and procedures that have developed into rules: always use your largest denomination chips first for that bet type, so if the bet is 300 you use three blacks, do not splash the pot, change is given at the end of the betting cycle etc.....
These guidelines for proper poker etiquette are actually enforced at casino's now, do not continually use your smalled denomination chips (when you can use others and they are not required) do not splash the pot etc... continually do it and you might find yourself sitting out a blind level or two.

It is up to veteran players and TD's to start bringing the new comers and others into line and start informing them of the correct way to behave or act at a poker table, this will come with time and some of you should already be seen some TD's introducing poker etiquette procedures and obscure rules into their opening speeches.

Hi there Garth. I made a suggestion during the week that maybe the TD's could intruduce an additional rule for the wek in their opening introduction speach.

I'm happy to say that Dakota has taken it on board.

This weeks special mention is "the mucking of a players hand if they are not at the table when the last card is dealt".

It worked well at Para hills tonite well, last nite LOL and cards went into the muck straght away.

Any suggestions for next week guys and gals????

It was actually a suggestion James Butler made at our last operations meeting, we have now started a fortnightly staff newsletter and listed in it are two facts or poker etiquette or rules that should be included in their opening speech.
I know several TD's included some obscure or ambiguous rules in their opening spiels before this but we wish to get this uniform across the state.

I am usually a player who likes to play within the rules and etiqutte of poker, and people splashing pots, or taking change too early REALLY annoys me (these are common occurrences at my venue), and ill often point out these mistakes in a friendly way (most people are happy to find out more about the game and do it the correct way way from then on)


what REALLY annoys me even more is when i point out a rule or piece of etiquette is the reply of 'mate its only social poker, don't worry about it'.

I KNOW ITS ONLY SOCIAL POKER BUT THAT DOESNT MEAN WE DONT PLAY BY THE F**KING RULES.


(its like saying im only playing a social game of tennis today, therefore its allowed to bounce twice on my side of the net, i mean some people......)
