Raise UTG Clarification
Last night was playing at the arkaba, and found Js Jh UTG and elected to raise. With blinds at 50/100 i announced a raise. I put the intial 100 call out there then made up my mind on a 2.5x BB raise and put that out there maybe 5 seconds later. I know this is not a string bet as i verbalised my action, but many of the players frowned on my action. What do you guys think

Re: Raise UTG Clarification
just make sure you VERBALISE ANY ACTION and its fine.
so yeah as long as it was loud enough for the majority of ppl to hear, then its all good.
you probably should say raise to 800 or something, rather than just raise

Yep - so long as you've verbalised it, its all good.
I always try and make a bigger deal out of what I'm doing if it is a late game however. Early games, its up to everyone to pay attention, but I personally (and I'm sure some would disagree) am prepared to make some exceptions for, erm, "drinkers" shall we say.

What you did was fine. Action was verbally declared, and putting the call out separately is always a good action to make.

Re: Raise UTG Clarification
I find I do a lot of verbalising at the tables
and I'm not a big drinker either
But, yes on a serious note I have changed my play somewhat and verbalise my intensions whether I'm calling, raising or even when I fold. I find it removes the doubt.
