Sounds like the common sense approach to me, and encapsulates (you like that one this late on the final working day of the week? :-) ) the key rerquirement of NPL, that we're reminded of each week - "HAVE FUN".

Appreciate hearing your/NPL's thoughts on the matter Garth.

Cheers,
JK

Phew! Good to hear! Especially that 'never' word. I quite enjoy turning up to a regular game and seeing some people that I want to play against and actually can... available seats willing of course.
Will dance for your chips!

yeah i dont think thats a bad idea, i had a few suspects who i thought may of been cheating. the only worry i have is now and then when i take my mum along i have to sit at the same table, not always next to, just to remind her she always forgets what the blinds are and the min bet etc. i shouldnt pot her though she's beaten me the last few times we've went.

Collusion does happen, it's minimal but it's still there. It's really damned if you do and damned if you don't as far as assigned seating goes. I agree with keeping it how it is now but assigning/drawing seats for anything super important like a satellite or a final.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

I am all for assigning table numbers.

I do agree with Garth and his position but the problem is this. Those who do report collusion become seen as those who take it too seriously or play for sheep stations. I think if a bunch of players want to play on the same table they can always ask that of the tournament director, but I think assigning table numbers is good, especially when we get to the business end of the season.

We are a company that provides over a million dollars a year in prizes.
At some stage there definitely needs to be a serious "clause" added to the NPL product. About 75% of our players are their just for the social interaction, the other 25% are their chasing points and quallification into state finals or another Satellite.
In saying that if any TD or staff member does not take accusations of collusion seriously then I will personally give them a stern talking to before removing them from their positions.
I cannot stress the importance we declare on providing fun, free and FAIR tournaments, I strongly suggest to all players that if they have any issues and do not wish to raise them directly with the TD or do not want to be seeing as a "dobber" or playing for sheep stations, contact me directly on my mobile. I am contactable almost 24/7 and am always on call for any situation.
We will not tolerate any collusion of any sorts and this week we have banned several people for chip dumping and collusion, it does happen and most of the times we are on top of it, but we still appreciate the fact that players can notify staff of any shenanigans!
Also to Ricky's idea of seating allocation but if friends want to sit together they request it. Kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it? It's either one way or the other, at this stage I am sticking by the fact that we will not be allocating seats. The majority are happy with this system and it is only a very small minority that seem to be taking advantage of the system.

Sorry, I may not have explained myself very well. The idea of requesting seating together is so that the TDs know which ones they are and can keep an eye on them.

I always go along with a best mate, we always feel bad if we take chips off each other but thats just what the games about.
Ive knocked him out a few times he has taken me out as well.
I just make him walk home, no cheating ;)
I love NPL, if your going to change anything make the blind reaising less agressive thats the only thing that gets to me!
When you think your going okay then all of a sudden its half your stack for BB :|
