APPT - SYDNEY POKER MILLIONS PROMO

Postby BigBadAz » Wed Nov 28, 2007 3:25 pm

Hey guys,

Unfortunatly i have left the SA region and now playing in Victoria.

Im not sure if your promo has started but i finally won an NPL tourny.

Many times i have finished 2nd to mainly bad beats like a pair of deuces, but this time BigBadAz got one back, yep, with the pair of deuces.

Its amazing how much NPL poker can change when you cross the border, firstly I won a seat to the APPT poker millions satellite, i won the card protector, and what is referred to here in VIC as a "doorstop". A trophy which is made from solid glass and has the NPL "Ace of Spade" card imprinted in the middle, and weighs about 4kg.

Unfortunatly most venues here dont offer venue vouchers which I believe doesnt help attracting people to the tourny. Although the cards are still the same, it still doesnt feel like im playing in the same class of people. You need to re register, although they entered my old SA ID as my new VIC ID.

Anyway, I just though id give you some insight as to how things differ when you move states.

I will post my result at the APPT Poker millions here, and I will also include my opinion on how the event was run.

Until then, Bluff on!

Good to hear that there was a change in fortune on the felt BigBad! Quite the nice bit of form.

No venue vouchers??? Ouch! Anything else in their place? If not... go the SA NPL staff ;)
Will dance for your chips!

Hey guys,

fresh back from the APPT Grand Final, unfortunatly i didnt make the final 50, i had a really tough day on the felt, and I knew it was going to be a tough day when my first 2 hands i looked down at 7 2 off.

Anyway I think i finished just outside the top 50 (25 from each flight) i was about 38th out of about 160 from our flight, which wasnt too bad.

Our celebrity poker player was some donkey who plays for Collingwood football club, Brodie Holland was his name was, but he was knocked out early (and so he should have been) and a prize for a weekend away to queensland's Gold Coast, and Jupiters Casino package was the prize for knocking him out.

Overall it was a good afternoon, and run well by NPL staff, Brett Kay even made an appearance and it gave me an oppoutunity to grill him about the Teams Event and how hard it is to get a response from someone in relation to it. ;)

4 prizes were handed out to the top four, for a crack at the appt aussie millions, and 2 random names were drawn and they also won seats to the same package, unfortunatly none were me.

If you are interested in keeping track of my poker placings feel free to go to http://www.npl.com.au and change your state webpage to Victoria and click on leaderboards > Metro East> Knox Tavern, Im currently in 9th from 3 events 1 win 1 second and a DNP.

Thankyou for your interest,

Bluff On,

Hey Az,

Finally updated, only a couple of days after i promised to.

As for the APPT tournament, it most likely won't be run over in SA due to different poker machine companies.

In Victoria, the duopoly is between Tabaret (division of tabcorp, owner of starcity, skycity, other city casinos) and tattersalls (the lotto guys you see around the newsagencies). Tabaret put up the prizes and we just got the players excited.

Yes he did meet me, had one of the TD's saying there is a big guy in a red shirt that knows your brother from Adelaide. So good to meet you Az. :-).

As for the tournament, think 120 or so in first heat, Lance Rains the wild card, and 155 or so in the second, Brodie Holland the wildcard. Two of my players from the Peninsula are making it to syndey, another of my players from cranbourne knocked out Brodie for the 5k package to jupiters. All in all good day for my players LOL, i am rapt.

Think i was only aiming to be there to around 6ish, but stuck it out and didn't get home to 9.30pm.

Certain we will have some more promo's coming for SA soon. And gosh darn that Teams event if i am not going to make an appearance for that as well. Still thinking if i can sweet talk the big bro into letting me play. LOL.

Cheers guys,
Brett.
