How about we change the redraw card system?

Should you be chipped up to $2000 if you have less than that when your card is redrawn?

Makes the final table, knocks me out(after i knocked him out 3 hours earlier!!) and goes on to win. Fantastic effort.

He WON!? Wow.

How many draws are there meant to be??
At one country venue the second draw, at the end of the second break there have been anything up to 5 or 6 draws... extra chips if you are still in and 3 or 4 getting back in.
Garth already knows the venue in question!!!

It depends on how many runners there is total/how many left at the second draw. I'm not sure how its worked out, you'll have to ask Garth or a TD.

Further proof this rule needs to come into effect:

I had $1500 tonight, $500 of that in SB. My name was drawn out.

I was in the same boat as you AK, except UTG. Debated going all in last hand before the break with J 8 with the chance of a redraw, but talked myself out of it for some reason.

Well weigh up your options....

Your UTG with 1000 last hand before the break. Do you go all-in and try to double, triple or quad up? Even if you get knocked out you still have a chance with the draw...

But wait, would you rather your chances in the BB then your chances with any random hand UTG... Your chances of being drawn out are limited. Just say you Stamped up two cards at a 50 player venue. Your chances would be ruffly 2 out of 75 of a redraw.

Considering the the redraws are a tool of the NPL that will not likely change i think most players should focus more on their game than the draw.

Also one other note to add, if we do start chipping people up. How many will we have to chip up before we actually draw an eliminated player let alone two? Whats to say if we did change our current policy that there won't be a thread saying that people who are still in should get 3000 and returning players should get 2000 or even vice versa?

The current draw system is both fair for the players and fair for the NPL as a business. There is no change needed there.

I have to admit it really burns me when I have played a good game all night and someone gets in on a redraw.

But I might have one bad or rather unlucky hand and the redrawee gets into the points because he/she has spent most of the game on the bench.

I must admit I try really hard to have a good game and I do realise it is just "social pub poker" but I do this because I want to do well and frankly it is often the bad players that get back in and make the points.

Sorry to grizzle but I have been grumpy and bitter about this for ages... lol

(Edit - couldn't stand the spelling mistake I put in by forgetting the 'E' in bitter. Then had to add the edit bit in.)

Fair Point JJ

But that being said (its always bad players that are re-drawn) Who else can be re-drawn, All the good players are usually left in :P

The Re-draw is a tool used by the NPL to offer the less expreinced or less skilled players some "bang for their buck" The re-draw is not at all designed for some like yourself (JJ) as you seem to hit points more often then not.

If the NPL did not offer such programs for our newer and or more social players then you would in-turn win less points as the seriesness of the game could scare away the fun. (meaning less players)

The NPL want some thing to offer everyone. The re-draw isn't some thing we would aim at a player like yourself but say the 25k Statefinals is.

Id be willing to bet the majority of re-drawn players (say 80%_ never make the points as they are usually massively short stacked and to add i would say around half the players that are re-drawn are point chasing players that stayed at a venue after elimination specificly for the draw. So really, is the system really that unfair?

All those observations are from personal expreince running events, not actual facts.

Hi Nathan,

I do see and agree with your point and I really appreciate you putting it the way you did. :)

I must say however this is only my second season ever and I joined half way through the first season. Having said that in the time have played, I have only made the Bad beat table once and got back in have never got back in on the redraw. But getting back in via the bad beat table I never really felt like I deserved that spot. I was out and should have stayed that way.

Sure it is good that those inexperienced or rather new players get the opportunity to get back into the tournament via redraw or bad beat, but what about those players that are constantly going out in the early stage of the game because they choose not to play sensibly, simply because they know that there is this backup system in place.

How is that fair to those players that want to get into the points or aspire to better their game?

This does come from a touch of experience and bitterness I fully admit and I realise that is not really the way to be.

But like I said, I do see your point and I do look forward to reading and hearing other thoughts in regards to this.
