i disagree. That makes no sense.
For example look at online games, when you buy into cash games they give you 100x the big blind initially.

NPL without chip ups gives 20x initially.

You reiterate my first post. Its all in or nothing to try and double up. Or hope for a huge flurry of hands to win on.

"If your good enough to win with 4000, your good enough with 1000" "teaches people to play short stack"

and how do you play short stack, ALL IN.

Great point Luke.

As i posted early. More chips generally means poor play. Poorer poker expreince over all and just bad business.

Now the deep stack two day Berri Resort Event will be great, but its not good for every night of the week.

Cash games are significantly different from free roll freeze out tournaments. Not to mention if you choose to buy in to a cash event, the more chips you have the better. In a free roll you can gain additional chip with venue spend so i fail to see the comparison of a free roll vs buy in event.

There's a BIG difference between cash game poker and tournament poker.

How can they "give" you anything, if it's a cash game?

I think he means a tourney, for cash?

fair enough, but even in online tourney's, .. blinds start at 10/20 and starting stack is 1500. Therefore 75x the blinds. Which is about right.

Those tourny's take a * l o n g * time tho (I've only played the freeroll ones). AND the hands get dealt MUCH faster - no shuffling etc. Not possible to have anything approaching that for pub poker.

I'm with you on the fact it would be nice to have some extra time, but it aint going to happen for a variety of reasons, as laid out so patiently by everyone here. I AM with you tho!

Have you played a Turbo, or Super Turbo sit'n'go online? The Super Turbos, you are lucky to get 2 hands per blind level.

NPL is a Turbo event, so the blinds go up quicker. The use of chips requires a larger starting blind level than 10/20 (which I think sucks anyway).

And if you only have $1000 in chips at the break, because you haven't played a hand, who's fault is that? The NPL isn't to blame for you folding every hand... sometimes you have to play 85 in the SB when only playing the next 25 chip.

When I play, I use the passports as a backup plan. I never use one to chip up to start the game... Depending on the table, I may use one during the game (but I do if I rebuy obviously) to chip up, but only when its very aggressive (and I want value for my big bets, and respect for a raise  )

If you prefer 75x the BB, go play online!

(rcon, good point about shuffling - some people take too long)
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

I don't think you'll get what you want playing pub poker if you want to relax the blinds and starting stacks, while keeping at least a decent level of play.
We've how about links I would like to know I walk the line scrunches line at how the client Lawrence etc. etc.
