I can't help but wonder if other players are finding all this advice as helpful as I am.

Thankyou everyone so much, because it is daunting to say the least.

I can't wait to meet you all face to face..

Ok, semi-serious advice from me now :)

Being a little bit excited or nervous etc is perfectly normal, so I suggest embracing it. Just accept it as par for the course and you may even find (afterwards) that you stopped noticing it after awhile.

When you first sit down, scope everyone else at your table out. See if you can tell if they are nervous themselves or cocky or half asleep or whatever. It will likely be to your advantage.

You have a slightly larger starting stack and the blinds are more relaxed so playing tight/aggressive would by far be the preferred option early on. This also gives you a chance to suss out some of the other players at your table a bit more and see what kinds of hands they are playing. This will obviously help your decision making later on.

Dave's advice of knowing your own game and largely sticking to it is very very good.

Other than that, about the only real bit of advice I could give you is to pay attention to everything that's happening on your table, even if you're not in the hand. Kinda detach yourself a bit and pretend you're an outsider looking in (like a stalker hehe).
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Hey, Xtal tried that first hand with her AA last time. That wasn't such a good idea either

If anyone is good at this, it's Pete.

Pete went out second hand at the second state finals, BUT, he would play the same way each and every time if he had that hand again.

Don't doubt what's worked for you in the past.

Yep - I doubted what had worked for me in the past, and it distracted me, and allowed someone to bluff me out of a pot. Because I knew I had 2nd guessed myself, I was then in a rattled state, didn't play well and got blinded out 'cause I was so timid.

I was calling an allin.

I knew the player (and he knew me) and I incorrectly thought he wouldn't be stupid enough to call a pre-flop raise from me with only K 9 offsuit.

Given the flop of K K 9 and me having A K, I thought I was laughing.

Clearly not :)

Ouch. What was your preflop raise?

Anyone would've called with AK and that flop, though.
