It's not removed - just keeping the details, and the discussion separate.
All good.

Okey doke.
Second question - Garth, do you honestly except to see so many runners that players that don't book with the hotel will miss out?

Those who have booked will get preference.
Numbers are capped a 300, we got over 600 for teams event.
There is a possibility yes. And if the hotel does not make a profit it definitely will not be run next year.

Re: Berri DEEP STACK Tournament - Discussion
If nothing else The Cougar is enterprising when it comes to business opportunities. I have just booked out the entire venue- every room- every bed. So you thought $145 a night for two people- $72.50 each was steep. If you want a bed they are now going for $100 per person per night and you have to book with The Cougar. Nice profit eh. If you promise not to trash the rooms, I'll throw in a box of beer or a bottle of spirits per room. You must book for Friday & Saturday nights to receive the booze.
Only kidding.
Seriously, I thought some of you were smarter than what you have been going on about. You're worried about paying $72.50 a night for accom when you will probably eat, drink, smoke, drink, gamble on TAB or Pokies, drink, drink more- about $150 worth in 24 hours.
And no doubt some will say paying for accom is a waste of money altogether when you will be so drunk, playful, naughty etc. you won't get any sleep anyway. I'll probably be one of these people myself. I'd stay awake all night just to find out what room Des is in just so I could keep bashing on his door.
As a world-wide backpacker of some 30 years experience let me say that there are many options available.
1. Book the best, most expensive room at the venue.
For booking and paying you get first dibs on the biggest bed unless:-
a) two or more (same gender) are already passed out in it and to join or remove them may cause violence. If there is only one person in the big bed you have the right to boot them out OR pass out next to them- (gender non- specific);
b) two or more (different gender) are using it- See b) i and b) ii- b) i- Application for a One Night Naughty; or
b) ii -No Application, but they don't mind you watching or even joining in.
Both b) i and b) ii are conditional on that after the event the occupants vacate the big bed.
The smaller bed/s, couch, fold-away are occupied by your mates.
If one of you mates gets lucky- See b) i and b) ii. They have to take their chances in the small bed if the big bed is full- See a).
Special clause: If you are entitled to the big bed and any of a) applies, you have an unconditional right to boot out one of your mates from the small bed, unless b) ii applies.
The rest of the drunks, freeloaders etc. have to sleep on the floor, in the spa (empty) or if b) i or ii applies the spa may be full. If you get lucky and you wish to do it on the floor, b) i does not apply, but b) ii may.
One year at the snow we got 11 people in a room 4.2 m X 3.6m. At a backpackers in New York there were 16 people in 9 bunks and on the floor in one dorm.
More later- depending on the response. LOL

Re: Berri DEEP STACK Tournament - Discussion
I realise we should be supporting the venue accom but not everyone can afford it, not withstanding food, drinks etc and petrol expenses on top.
Berri has other accommodation including a caravan park with about 9 different types of accom from spa deluxe cabins 4 1/2 star through to bunk house dorms and tent sites. See below
http://www.berricaravanpark.com.au/
Also there is a backpackers at Berri- don't know much about it though.
Another suggestion.
There is a bus that goes from Central Bus Depot- Franklin St City to the Riverland. One way is $44.60 but the times are inconvenient,
Other option is hire a 22 seat bus. I have a bus licence so I can drive. Don't know how much though. I'll find out more Monday

Re: Berri DEEP STACK Tournament - Discussion
Cougar, have you read all the posts on this topic?
I hope you are taking responsibility for any players that head down to Berri and stay in alternate accomodation, because they will be watching only.
1st preference will be to those staying at the resort, if all rooms are booked out (I think 135 or so) that could be anywhere from 135 to 270 or even more players.
Then how do you think Riverlanders who live here and play at the venue every week, and travel to State finals each season only to drive home past midnight on Sunday, are going to feel about this?
I guarantee you they will get preference over people not staying at the venue from other regions.
For crying out loud, I don't want to see anything more on this thread about ALTERNATE ACCOMODATION until ALL rooms @ Berri Resort are booked out.
Even then you are not guaranteed entry.
