Just been having a chat with Des about check-in times etc, so I gave the hotel a buzz. If you are planning to stay just Saturday night, the hotel has told me you probably won't be able to get into your room until 1pm at the earliest.

They do have a bottle-o, and I'm tempted to ring them :)
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Excuse my ignorance here, but is the Berri Hotel aka Berri Resort?

There is another option for all of those who keep complaining about accommodation. DONT PLAY - its not like NPL are forcing anybody to play. (although it will be awesome). As gundog said, give up a agme a week and you'll get there easy, or split a room with 1 or two mates. I think 90% of people could afford $50-$70. How much would people spend in booze/taxi/HJ's at 3am anyway? A weekend in Berri might be cheaper, who knows?

Hi there Macca. If your refering to my thread then, I guess you misread the information or were unable to grasp the English language. :D

I did say I am """not whinging or whining""".

I did say I actually attempted to take advantage of the 20% discount that was offered on their web site. That would have made it $116 for a $145 room and over a 3 day period that is a good saving for me and my wife. Unfortunately they did say the $145 rate was fixed for that weekend.

I did see the $70 specials in the hotel. However, when you consider quite a few of the 300 punters may be single, possibly a little drunk and or just a little disorderly to be polite. :)

And to think of what it would be like to use the shared facilities in the hotel the next morning............. can I be bold and say, use your imagination. ;)

Now if that makes me a prude (my words not yours) or concerned for my wife who isn't a poker fan or a drinker and is just looking for a weekend away from work then that's fine.

And finally I did say I was prepared to just enjoy the scenic area and the weekend away with my wife Donna and friends if wasn't able to secure a seat.

30 years ago things would have been so much different, and you would have to tie me to the bed to keep me away. Well not you personally Macca LOL, but you know what I mean.

So, assuming it was my thread you are refering too, please try and read what is written and not what you think was written.

Take care fella and maybe you and I can have a drink on the day. regards Bob B

That's good Garth. Can you let me know if and when you have your 300 please.

If I miss out I can ask our non playing friends to join us for the weekend. That way it's not totally wasted if you know what I mean, regards Bob B

Nice post bob, well put and valid points, i guess it does add up a fair bit for a family for a weekend. I guess i wasn't having a direct shot at you, i was just a little peeved at the thread which had turned from excitement regarding what will probably be the best event of the year outside state finals to mainly negative comments.

I apologise if i offended you, but im so massively excited about this event and everybody else should be too.

That beer on the day is a definate go'er.

cheers
