No problems Macca. I can't wait for the end of next month and agree it should very exciting playing with a big stack and still getting knocked out early. well not too early we hope

I also think this could be as good as the state finals as it allows our families to get away with us and have a break at the same time. And maybe we can make it more family orientated in the future.

As you are aware I have a 62 Valiant and I'm also a member of the Chrysler Restorers Club of SA and we go on quite a few different runs on a monthly basis. We also have weekends away where the host club looks after us to ensure we have a good weekend away.

when the original post came out I automatically thought along the lines of it being a weekend away for some of us with our families and or friends to enjoy not only the poker aspect but also take in what the location has to offer.

In this case it's BERRI and thinking along those lines the riverland NPL members could have formed a committee in conjuction with the NPL staff and put on a great show for a weekend away. Wineries, paddle steamer cruises BBQ's on the river etc.

That way the whole area would get a bite of our weekend dollars. I wasn't aware the total prize money was going to be at the expense of the Berri Resort.

So, it's understandable why the emphasis is on the Berri Resort to create enough return from their accomadation bookings, food and bar takings to compensate their outlay.

I assumed the funds would come from the NPL budget that we have been told about and that in their (NPL's) forward thinking they had a surplus put aside for something of this nature.

I'm sure one way or another people will enjoy their weekend away, I'm sure we will and I'm sure the NPL guys will make sure it runs like a clock.

Again I say, it was a great idea and a good first choice for something like this to happen.

I actually agree with Bob's post.

Until was explicitly expressed by Todd, I was unaware that the Berri Resort was putting up the prize money for the event, I thought it was coming from NPLs budget. As stated in Garth's original post "NPL, in conjunction with the Berri Resort Hotel, are proud to offer all NPL player’s the opportunity to partake in a true deepstack freeroll tournament." there was no specific mention of Berri Resort's complete involvement of the event.

Without everyone having all the information (not saying here that NPL should share anything outside what they choose to), you can see why people were perhaps looking at alternate accommodation (as was a group of 12 of us that were heading up for the event, numbers have since been slightly revised). Once things were explained, players could understand the preference to reservations within the bounds of the resort, myself included.

I do think that it is a marvelous idea and I will see you all at the tourney.

On a side note, NPL is really good at business dealings but **********************************, and that is my say.

Thank you for your support Shannon. Hey, I want to make it clear that I was unaware of the funding and was thinking along the lines of the committee thing to help support the community of Berri as well as having a good time. By the way, Shannon, why is your Post so wide?????

I dont know how excited some of you are about this event, I for one cannot wait for the big weekend.

judging by the amout of bookings I suggests the heavy hitters have booked fast. :P

If there is less than 20 rooms to go and a month and a half before the event, the venue, Garth and NPL must be impressed how intrest in the event has blossomed so quickly. :o

Good luck to all those who venture out of the chitty for this event (sic  not too much luck though  )

Berri Resort rooms have all been booked out, there are still plenty more options for accommodation.

There is another venue in Berri or the Renmark Golf Club.

Obviously we now have to look at increasing our cap on players.
We will now go to 500 players and no more. If we do go over three hundred then we will probably have to decrease the starting stack to 10,000.

I will see what we can do equipment wise.

well done garth, sounds like a good crowd is gonna be there.

i reckon most would agree with me here, but i would rather see us play a little extra time on one of the days than reduce the starting stack.

i understand that this would be tough on staff etc, but the major attraction of the tournament is the size of the starting stack, so keeping this as large as possible would be good.

maybe increasing the antes or going to 20 min blind levels on the second day might be the go rather than reducing stack size?

having said all this, i understand why you would have to reduce stack size if you get 500 there.
