What are the chances?

Postby Nevah play JJ » Sun May 18, 2008 6:51 pm

Hi all..

I have to boast again.. LOL

Thursday, I had a voucher to spend for that 'other league' so I went along to the pub to play one last game with them, and got dealt

4h 5h

I bet because I love small connecters.. blah blah blah

Can't remember any more about the hand but I ended up getting a flush straight

2h 3h 4h 5h 6h

Today playing at The Emu I got dealt

4h 5h

Well, of course I played them, because I love them.. blah blah blah

Can you believe this???????
The flop comes out
2h 3h 6h

Can't remember the rest of the hand.. lol

STRAIGHT FLUSH AGAIN!!!

Exactly the same as the last one....

WOW - I'd imagine the chances aren't very much at all.

I snagged 4 lots of quads in a 2 week period late last year - plus 2 on the board. That was a little freaky, but I suspect it aint quite as rare as 2x straight flush.

I can't find my link for it, but does anyone have the probabilities of drawing straight flushes? isn't it something like over 10, 000 : 1?

Thanks ALK, but not quite the one I was after - was wondering what the chances were before being dealt, what my chances are of having a straight flush by the end of the board.

Hi JJ,

I'm well known in the NPL world as the guy who flopped a straight flush to win $500 off Dakota :)

Then at the strath one night (anzac day)... Dakota dealt me another flopped straight flush.

So anytime I play, I don't mind if Dakota is around!! 0.020408163% baby!

Chance of getting a Straight Flush on the flop: 0.02%

Chance of getting a Straight Flush on the flop: 1 in 4900.00

might have to check your figures there cos 0.02 is not the same as 1 in 4900. 0.02 is actually 1 in 50. Possibly missing a zero or three between the decimal place and the 2.

0.02% doesnt equal 1 in 50

2% equals 1 in 50

0.02 = 2% = 1/50
0.0002 = 0.02% = 1/5000
