I agree Brice, it's good to have a range of opinions on the forum. Not sure that I agree wth this comment though...

Just because he says so, doesnt mean it's true. Who are these people he allegedly represents??

For the most part, I like what Paul has to say about the forum - not so much how he says it, but what he says.

I actually met Paul last week at the Willaston. He seemed like a nice bloke. Was wondering who the bloke with the fancy jacket was (who got two awful bad beats, runner runner flush two hands in a row), then I heard him referring to himself as "the cougar" and it clicked.

Taking into account the knowledge of what he had posted here previously, and the impression I had formed, I was a little taken aback at how nice and respectful he was.

I wasn't there last night, but without needing to hear the other side of the story (read: NPL's) I trust NPL's judgment. I can see NPL TD's disliking Paul's comments on the forum, but I don't see any of them bringing that into a weekly game, or using it as an excuse to ban him. Frankly, unless you're posting abusive comments that demeans a persons character, what is posted on the forum shouldn't come up in a weekly tournament.

From the sounds of it anyway, Paul got what he deserved. 2 warnings is more than enough - if you can't straighten up after that then its your own fault.

And yeah, I agree with Matt, I don't really see Paul as a "leader" of sorts, for timid NPL players, to afraid to speak up. He may think of himself that way, but that's now how I see it.

Although he may not be representing players directly, I think his views are common to players that do not get on the forum or are 'read only' forum members, he asks the questions that they want answers to. I also think that the forum only represents a minority of the players that play NPL so it's important that someone is thinking about the "common player". I'm not saying that this isn't being considered by NPL, but it's important that these views are raised by someone.

Everyone has the ability to join the forum.

If they have questions, either come here or ask your TD.

Don't use a third party, cos meanings/intent can be misconstrued.
Maybe, if Paul is being the 'voice', he can use his to tell the people who want the questions asked to do so themselves.
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

except for tragics, most people on this forum that dont use their real name, remain anonymous

I would like to think that I know a LOT of NPL players, and have played in a LOT of venues... I would therefore like to think that I could represent a large percentage of those players too.

Brice, if you have a question then you should realise you are free to ask it. Don't be soft :P

We know you are aware of what's ridiculous and what isn't and we also know you're not going to go asking questions for the sole reason of being difficult.

The same applies to any forum member, sensible discussion/debate is very welcome. I refer to Dug's recent query as perhaps the perfect example. OK not everyone agreed, but that's not the point. The point is he asked a question in a sensible manner and clearly wasn't just trying to cause problems for people. There was absolutely nothing wrong him asking a question and I'm sure we'd all welcome more questions like that.

Speak up!
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

At the risk of being unpopular and losing my seat at the Berri tournament, and if that is the decision by the powers that be, my accommodation costs to date are $160 (for my reimbursement thankyou). I was not at the event that saw Paul receive a 10 week ban, however I am an opinionated person and will have my say.

Plenty of people complain when you move players, especially if they think that they are getting pushed closer to the blinds then they were before, tell them that's the way it is, and as the TD you have to suck that up occaissionally (that being said never take abusive crap from players in front of the whole room either).

I actually can't believe that a player was given a warning prior to the game commencing regarding something else - to put a very simple scenario on it, if you were eating in McDonalds and you were talking about eating at Hungry Jacks, McDonalds wouldn't give you a warning (pushed for time, and it is a bad example) or kick you out.

Sure give warnings for swearing and then kick out if required.

I do believe that this ban is directly related to forum comments, not only related too, but a large majority.

Some people like to stir the pot and play devil's advocate to create debate and challenge the powers that be, but they should not be banned for this. Cougar has my support.

And as for the slamming of the Cougar over his other accommodation suggestions before we were informed that the Berri Resort was footing the whole bill of the weekend, I too would be very loud and outspoken when accommodation was referred elsewhere and is now acceptable to be staying elsewhere.

Human nature is what human nature is, the good and the bad.
