Pickled weeds, Bacon. Pickled weeds.
Does that mean some drunk took a leak on them on saturday night too?
Enjoy your meal Des.

However, they do get pretty busy for food, so you'd want to be there before 6.45 to be sure. Might pay to book a table too.
Thanks bacon.

Des,
There's a game at the Watermark Hotel tonight (2 mins away from Zuccas). I can keep a seat for you till about 7:50 if you're keen?

Re: New 2nd card redemption system this week at Para Hills
Well, I liked the system trialled last night. Sat down as PHCC with both Peter and Brad from top of the leaderboard, so there were a few people trying some, er, "interesting" moves on those two.
I cashed in 1 card at the start of play, lost the best part of 1k over the first session, however the knowledge I had another 2k coming if I could play tight kept me interested and concentrating.
When I came back from the break I still felt in with a chance as I had a decent stack still compared with the blinds - allowed me to be patient and wait for something decent. Of course my thoughts on the matter may well be clouded by the fact I went on to take out my biggest win
Contrast with later at the Royal: I was down to 1700 at the first break, having used both my cards, I still managed to go on to 3rd - however this was highly dependent on picking up AA just before the 2nd break to get me from 2k up to 8k. There was no way I was going to be able to just be "patient" as I would have come back into a BB of half my stack with out the AA. Without that hand I was gone - it was one of only 2 hands I played in the 2nd session - and you aren't always going to get something that strong in 30(?) min....
edit: I probably should draw some conclusions to my ramble there.
I liked the bit of extra time the additional 1k game me whilst the blinds were still reasonable. It is not going to guarantee you premium hands, but it did allow me to wait longer than normal. I would prefer the blind structure be relaxed too (see NPL needs an overhaul), however I also liked this.
I gotta try new venues more often - 3 new venues in the last 8 day for 2 wins and a points, although I mostly put it down to having tightened (read: less drinking, more poker) up my game in prep for the deep stack. Bring on Berri!

You're in a rich vein of form at the moment Matthew! Nice work indeed.
This trial sounds really interesting, would love to read some more feedback on it.

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

yup - I was sure I'd find a way to work it into a post sooner or later
A few other good points too. All good practice for Berri - which I'll need 'cause the cards are sure to be cold by then!

It certainly changed things - not a whole heap, but it gives you an extra 20-30 odd hands (play speed permitting) before you're up against it. Or even the fact that one mistake doesn't cost you everything.
Last night I got the impression that everywhere would be using this system next season? I haven't seen it spoken of on here anywhere, but that was what I took from Dakota's spiel.

Re: New 2nd card redemption system this week at Para Hills
Next season is yet to be decided. I want to see the impact on a relaxed tournament structure (say with about 80 runners and an extra blind level added) and a venue that stamps up fairly reasonably with a high passport redemption.
Now I wonder where I could do that tonight?
