Bad Beat Story Tellers

Postby bennymacca » Thu May 22, 2008 10:10 am

dont you hate it when you first listened to a guy's bad beat story, and now he comes and tells you how his trip 2s got taken down by some other crap in some 100play money tourney 3 weeks ago?

all i want to do is tell these people to STFU but they keep telling me, and i am too polite to say anything about it.

another gripe i have

there are a couple of people that i have played with that will tell me every time they hit bottom pair after they fold their cards.

i.e flop comes AK2. after the hand, this person will say "dammit, i folded 2 5." i really want to tell these players to STFU as well, but i am too polite.

PS i am probably sorta guilty of me last point as well, but only if its marginal hands like q10, or K9 or hands like that which i could call or fold depending on whats happening on the table at the time, and onlt if i would have ended up winning the pot

man i hate that

Do what Darren does and charge them $5 per story. They'll get the hint :)

Thats standard though... I think next season Darren accepts VISA, but not American Express.

All cheques however can be made out to me. :)

I do that every time. But only if I've folded the winning hand.

It is something I'm trying to change though, I don't like it about my game - and when other people do it to me it realllly pisses me off. Wow, I sound like that?

For instance, I folded 10 8 preflop last week. Flop came 10, 10, 8. I threw my head back and sighed. The table instantly knew that at best, I folded a 10. It was heads up play in the hand, there was a big bet and a call.

Turn: 10. Again, "dammit!" and I almost stood up. Obvious to the entire table that I had the sole remaining 10. It was an instant reaction, I never said "dammit I folded a 10" or anything, just a reaction. So technically I wasn't breaking the rules.

But it wasn't fair to the two players in the hand.

So I'm trying to change that :)

i do that as well, but then i console myself and think, would i have ever played 10 8?

thats a time when you wish you are on one of the blinds.

there is a certain player that i had a go at once, because he would say what he had after every hand, even if it bore no relation to the cards on the board! after about 10 times, i told him that noone cares, and so shut up. the look on his face was priceless!

im normally not a rude person, but i'd had enough

10 8 is very playable.

Good to see you're aware of what you were doing Aaron. Although you didn't actually verbalise what you had, you may as well have!

You are exactly right in saying it's not fair on those still in the hand.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

No its not, shut up :P

Now 10 9, suited, however.

Oh lord, how I love [10s] [9s].

Twice now, on an all in its saved my bacon.

Hand 1 (last month):

All in, short stack, on 10, 9, spades. Straight on the river to beat his top pair.

Hand 2 (few weeks ago):

Shortstack. All in blind in 2 hands. I fold 10, 9 offsuit.

Flop: 9 9 7.

Hand 3 (last night):

Shortstack. All in next hand, dealt 10, 9 spades. I say to the table "I've got to play this."

Flush on the flop.

Obviously the spades have something to do with it :D
