Anyone good with maths? Help me work out my average

Postby AceLosesKing » Thu May 22, 2008 4:00 pm

Here's my NPL page. I'm 2nd in the B&G region with an average of 45.15.

Kerry Wordley is 1st in the B&G region (her NPL page) with an average of 46.74.

So that's:

Kerry: 46.74.
Aaron: 45.15.

My lowest points finish is 23.20. Last night gave me my 15 points. Providing Kerry doesn't score a higher points finish, how many points will I need to grab 1st?

I think you need to score 47.05 points, but I don't have access to see all your scores.

What I've done is said Kerry has a total of 701.10 (15 x 46.74). You have a total of 677.25 (15 x 45.15).

So the difference is 23.85 points. This is how many you need ABOVE your lowest score (of 23.20).. hence 47.05 will equal her score.

It's pretty rough, but should be a good guide.
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

I would say about 45 to 50 ?

Do you want an exact figure?

I just worked it out the same way Bacon.

You'll need 47.06 to be ahead on points.

But it depends if the averages are rounded up correctly.

47.06 will give you 701.2 which is an average of 46.746666 etc...

Assuming it's rounded up, you'd be ahead.

So if you know the numbers that might be at a venue, use the points calculator on the forum ;)

How EASY will this kind of thing be if we get the right tools David?

Oh the hours you could waste calculating this kind of carp, how SAD!

edit: screw you bacon and david, this is supposed to be my post LOL
what else is my engineering and physics degrees gonna be used for? :P

your "top 15 points" is 15*45.15 = 677.25

kerrys is 15*46.74 = 701.1

so you need to get 23.85 more points into your top 15 total

i.e u need 23.85 + 23.2 = 47.05 points

assuming 58 runners at the kinger friday again, u need to finish 7th or higher.

Assuming his competitor plays, how many places higher than her would he need to finish? Just trying to pass the time... :D

So 47 points. Thanks for that.

And yes, using the points calculator is my plan Dave :P

If the Kinger hits 70 players tonight, I'll need 9th or better. 70 is about their average.

Matty: Yeah, she told me last week. Don't know if she's playing Friday or Sunday though, I imagine if I pass her she'll make the effort to turn up :P

Wow do I need to perform tonight.
